NOTIFICATION

I am directed to notify the following decisions arrived at in the meeting held on 10.12.2020 under the Chairmanship of
the Vice-Chancellor regarding conduct of odd semester examinations of the academic session 2020-21:

A. “Sessionals:
I. Different components of sessionals may be substituted by ‘Assignment’ based assessment.
II. The students may be given assignment within three days from the date/issue of the notification and
shall by submitted 26th December 2020. The assignment may be given by the teacher concerned to
the students of his/her class over email. The students can submit the assignment to the concerned
teacher over email. After evaluation (in 30 marks), the marks of sessionals would be uploaded by the
teacher concerned on the portal latest by 31st December, 2020. To bring in uniformity in standards of
‘Assignment’ across different courses run by a Faculty and within a course (which is taught by different
teachers in different batches/locations), prior discussion at the Faculty/Department level needs to be
done.
III. The distribution of weightage of sessionals and end semester examination for the students of terminal
semesters be fixed as 30:70.
B. End Semester Examinations:

i) Mode and system of end-semester examination (Odd semester of 2020-21)

The examinations for the students of odd semester (1,3,5,7 and 9) of the academic session 2020-21 may be held
in online Open Book Examination (OBE) system in which examinees would take examination remotely (from their
home/ any other place) through online.

ii) Pattern of Question Paper and duration of examination:

a) Notwithstanding the pattern of question papers in vogue, the question paper of theory courses in OBE
system will have eight (8) questions and a student would be required to answer any four (4) questions.
The paper would be of 70 marks with all questions carrying equal marks (17.5 marks each). The question
paper in the proposed system should be framed in such a manner, that answer to each question does not
exceed 3 (three) A4 size sheets or maximum in 350 words.

b) The total duration of the examination will be 04 hours (Four hours) for general students and 06 hours (Six
hours) for students having benchmark disability (Divyangjan), which includes the time for downloading
the question paper from the Portal, writing the answers and uploading the hand-written answer sheets on
the portal.

c) Components like Projects/ Dissertations/ Practicals etc. will be substituted by assignments and viva-voce
(through Skype or other meeting apps).

iii) The provisions of use of unfairmeans by the examinees, procedural aspects related with conduct of online OBE
shall remain the same as notified vide notification No. RAc/Mtg./AC 08.08.20/20-21 Dated: 21.08.2020.

This issues with the approval of the Vice-Chancellor.
