The Piazza San Marco

Piazza San Marco, often known in English as St Mark’s Square, is the


main public square in Venice , Italy , where it is generally known just as
la Piazza (“the Square”) that named after the amazing church of San
Marco which is located on the eastern edge of the square.

The square contains most famous buildings such as St Mark's Basilica


and Dog's Palace the Basilica of San Marco that originally built in
18th century , which is located in the Piazza San Marco next the Dog's
Palace. the bulding has many important features to antiquarians in
history .

The paved area that extends from Piazza San Marco and forms a large
"L" around the Doge's palace is known as Piazzetta (small square) and
Mollo (pier), this area is marked by tall columns along the waterfront
that represent the saint's Venice ,the San Marco column is topped by a
winged lion while the san Theaodore column holds a statue of saint
Theaodore , to go in Piazza San Marco you can book tickets online they
usually cost between 36 € and 74 € per person .
