PROJECT REPORT REV A1

1. INTRODUCTION
General Electrical Company (GECOL) awarded a contract to Sirt Gulf for Gas Projects
Company (SGGP) to Design and construct 4.9 Km of a new 24" Gas pipeline to Alkhalij
Power Station. The new pipeline will tie-in into existing 34" Coastal Gas Network Pipeline
by a barred reduced tee-using cold cut at approximately km 346.8 of the Brega-Tripoli
branch. The pipeline will transfer 317.7 MMSCFD of gas to Alkhalij Power Plant from 34”
Coastal Gas Network Pipeline to a metering station. The project is strategic to Libya and
has high attention from Government of National Accord, GECOL, and NOC.SGGP has
subcontracted the engineering work of the project to Taknia Libyan Engineering
Company (TLEC). The engineering scope is cover the engineering activities of
constructing 24” pipeline with custody metering station, gas filtration, condensate
recovery tank and control room. The battery limit is from and included the tie-in point to
the 34” Coastal Gas Pipeline up to the emergency shutdown valve HV001 inlet flange
face upstream of NG Filter Separator.

TLEC scope shall cover all FEED and detailed engineering for 24” pipeline, which include;
preparing all drawings, calculations, data sheets, specifications, bills of materials and
material requisition.

Taknia Engineers will work closely with SGGP and GECOL representatives throughout
the project to ensure good and efficient communication at all times and a clear, mutual
understanding of the development and progress of the project. Sirte Oil Operation (SOC)
is the ultimate owner and operator of the pipeline with its facilities. All project documents
has to be approved from SOC.

1.1 Purpose
The main objective of this document is to determine the road crossing calculation as per
API 1102 for the 24 Inch Gas Pipeline. The calculation will be used to verify the selected
thickness and check the suitability of the wall thickness for the following pipeline:

 24" x 4.9 Km (Approximately), GAS Pipelines from tie-in 34-inch Existing

pipeline to Al-Khalij power plant.

3. DESIGN PARAMETERS
The design parameters for the calculations of the pipeline crossings are as listed at the
beginning of the calculation sheet in Appendix I.

4. ASSUMPTIONS
Following assumptions have been used in the analysis of the road crossings:

1. Wall thickness with factor of safety of 0.5 has been used for the road crossings
Calculation at location class II, which is in line with pipeline design basis.
1. Installation temperature has been considered as 51 C.
2. The traffic data considered for the traffic includes standard traffic profile with special
vehicle considered as oil drilling rig (62 tons per axle). This is the worst load that can
occur.
3. Cover from top of pipeline has been considered as 1500 mm as per pipeline design
basis.
5. CALCULATIONS
The calculations are included in Appendix I of this document.
