Using Adaptive Reuse & Retrofitting as a tool Uplifting & Empowering the Visually Impaired
for Rethinking the Pune Cantonment.
(purely URBAN DESIGN based topic)
Have a few friends who’ve passed out already
PEERS: and also a few who are currently studying who
can help me out in some way.
Have a few professors as well as seniors that
EXPERTS: have an idea about Urban Design as well as
Retrofitting and Adaptive Reuse.
Leaning more towards this topic since we
SELF ASSESMENT: studied Cantonment last semester and I feel it
can be explored much more and the complete
Makeover of the Cantonment (from Streets to
Housing to Rules & Regulations) is definitely a
very interesting notion. Plus, since I am
planning to pursue further studies in Urban
Design and since it really attracts my attention
and I enjoy doing it.
Majorly interested and inclined towards
INTREST: redeveloping the Cantonment and even
probably propose this as a replicating model for
all Cantonments throughout India.
by developing a “Self Sustaining” community
on the principles of Universal Design.
(SOCIAL ISSUE with a touch of URBAN DESIGN)
Don’t have any peers as such that can benefit
me for the topic but can help me in my
implementation process.
Have a few professors who can help me out to
learn more about the Visually Impaired as well
as for implementing Universal Design strategies.
Found this topic very exciting and very less
touched upon by not only Architects but
general public, and as well as a
notion/statement for us to all be more aware
and design considering not only the visually
impaired but all sorts of PWD’s. Plus, can be a
ground work for setting guidelines for the
Visually Impaired.
Equally inclined towards this topic. Even though
‘Blind Schools” is a regular topic during thesis, I
wanted to go a step ahead and design a
“community” to not make the Visually Impaired
feel “special”, but make them feel “normal”.
