AUDIO/VIDEO
Introduction Good day everyone! Welcome to GIYA on Air in coordination with DepEd Region IX,
Zamboanga Peninsula. I am Teacher ____________ your MatheMazing mathematics
teacher in Grade 9, Quarter 3, Module 1. Today, you will learn quadrilaterals and its
related terms. You will also determine the conditions that make a quadrilateral a
parallelogram.

Before we begin, make sure you have your self-learning Module, pen and paper for the
different activities.

Are you ready?

Body What is a Quadrilateral?

- A quadrilateral is a four- sided polygon.

- Three noncollinear points always determine exactly one plane.
- When there are four points, one of these points may necessarily be in the same
plane as the other three. Quadrilaterals can be called as plane quadrilateral when
four points are in the same plane.

Let’s have the Kinds of Quadrilaterals and Its related terms

FLASH:

- A parallelogram is a quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides.

- A rectangle is a parallelogram with four right angles.
- A square is a rectangle with four congruent sides.
- A rhombus is a parallelogram with four congruent sides.
- A trapezoid is a quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides.
- Supplementary angles- two angles whose sum of the measures is 180°
- Consecutive angles are supplementary

Now, let’s have What is it Activity

Focus Discussion 1: CONDITIONS WHICH GUARANTEE THAT A
QUADRILATERAL IS A PARALLELOGRAM

1. A quadrilateral is a
6 6 parallelogram if both pairs of
opposite sides are
O 5 R congruent.

2. A quadrilateral is a
113° 67° parallelogram if both pairs of
opposite angles are
congruent.
67° 113°

3. A quadrilateral is a
115° 65° parallelogram if pairs of
consecutive angles are
supplementary.
65° 115°

4. A quadrilateral is a
parallelogram if the
diagonals bisect each other.

5. A quadrilateral is a
parallelogram if one pair of
opposite sides are congruent
and parallel.

6. A quadrilateral is a
parallelogram if each
diagonal divides a
parallelogram into two
congruent triangles.
This time, it is your turn to do What’s More Activity.

Refer to the given figure to answer the following questions.

A. Given: MATH is a parallelogram.

I’ll give you 2 minutes to answer this activity. Let’s begin!

1. ḾA ≅ ________
Very good! TH
´
