CONDITIONALS

El uso del UNLESS:

UNLESS=IF

Example 1st conditional:

1-If you don’t stop eating you will be sick -> Unless you don’t stop eating you will
be sick.

Changing the order:

2-You will be sick if you don’t stop eating -> You will be sick unless you don’t stop
eating.
¿Cómo formular preguntas?

1st conditional:

Will you go to the beach if it’s sunny? = If it’s sunny, will you go to the beach?

2nd conditional:

Would you spend your life travelling if you won the lottery? = If you
won the lottery, would you spend your life travelling?

3rd conditional:

Would you have arrived on time if you had woken up earlier? = If you
had woken up earlier, would you have arrived on time?

Imperatives:
Imperative verbs can be used in the result clause of a first or second
conditional.
 If you see a comet, take a photo of it.
 If you saw a comet, take a photo of it.
 If you make a mistake, solve it.

Modals:
Con present simple (first conditional):
Modal verb+ infinitive

 If I don't study for this test, I might not pass the course.
 If you start eating junk food again, you may gain some weight.

Con past simple (Second conditional):


Modal verb+ infinitive

 If I had money, I could spend it.


 If I won the lottery, I could travel around the world.
Time clauses:
After time expressions: when, as soon as, until, after… the present tense is
used to talk about the future. (First conditional)
Future tense + time expression + present tense
 He won’t pass his exam until he studies.
 She will find a job as soon as she looks for it.
