Corporal punishment is often chosen by students over suspension or

detention.

Corporal punishment is often chosen by students over suspension or

detention in school. Many argue that corporal punishment is not an effective practice

of dealing with bad behavior and may cause low self-esteem for a student. However,

most of the students still chosen corporal punishment when given the option since it

saves time and the pain is transient compare to alternative methods of punishment.

Some students prefer corporal punishment because it is a quick punishment that

doesn’t cause other children to miss their valued time in class or other activities. Not

only the student's education is not interrupted, but the teacher could have more

enough time to focus on transmitting knowledge. Furthermore, compared with

suspension or detention, corporal punishment allows children to hide from their

parents that they have made a mistake at school and have been punished. Thus,

they can prevent from being punished again when they return home. Hence, as long

as teachers or parents have a good grasp of the limit of corporal punishment, this

does not mean that all students and children are resisted being corporal punishment.
