CITY OF BUFFALO DPW COMMISSIONER MICHAEL FINN

PROVIDES UPDATE ON WINTER STORM

Buffalo– A lake effect band of snow continues to impact all areas of the City of Buffalo. Total current snowfall
accumulation ranges between 7 inches in some areas to over a foot in other sections of the City, with additional
snow accumulation expected through the early evening hours.

With the significant amount of snowfall, Mayor Brown is asking residents not to travel if they don’t need to, in
order to facilitate the work of the plow crews.

At this time, there are 30 trucks plowing mains and secondaries. DPW crews are expected to remain on the
mains and secondaries throughout the night and into the early morning hours. By late morning, City plow crews
will begin to transition into residential neighborhoods. Work on side streets will continue into Monday or until
complete. DPW officials ask residents to follow parking regulations on their streets to assist in the snow removal
operation.

Also due to the significant snowfall, crews need the ability to plow streets with the 9am-4pm Alternate Side
Parking Restrictions. Vehicles parked on those streets must be moved to the legal side by 9am on Monday,
December 28th, 2020.

Garbage & recycling services scheduled for Saturday due to the Christmas Holiday have been impacted by the
snowstorm. Residents are asked to leave totes at the curb until crews arrive, collection is ongoing until all routes
are complete.
