Events in Truman’s ordinary world

Truman’s ordinary world was a life that he always going to work as a daily routine. He keeps saying or
doing the same thing every single day, he also meet same people who appear in same time and speak like a
script. For instance, the morning screen, Truman is going to work, before he leaves his house he say ‘good
morning’ to his neighbours, and “oh, and in case I don’t see you, good after noon, good evening, and good
night.” Truman talks to everybody nearly the same conversation, and he goes to the same places in
everydays; his life seems to be normal.

The world of film and central characters

The truman show is a 24 hours t.v. Show. Therefore, we can see many camera with foreground around
the camera, this shows that the camera is a hidden camera stalking Truman’s life. Plus, many things in this
world seemed to be a set up for the show, as people, objects, weather are all set up of the show. Even
posters on the wall and the food he eats.
Truman Burbank

He was born and raised in the hollywood dome that he was set the
thought that he life is real. He was one of the baby that was selected and
legally adopted by a corporation. Truman is unaware that his daily life is
broadcast around the world. He is never close to discover the true nature.
He has a job in the insurance business. Truman also was an aquaphobia
because his dad drown in the sea so that he was afraid of water. Therefore,
he never leave the city he live.

lauren garland

She is one of the key puzzle to the story. As she is the one who sees
the injustice of the show. She somehow went in the truman show and gave
him some hints about the truth. And also a big motivation and a symbol of
hope for him.
Meryl Burbank Christof

Meryl is a Truman’s wife, who He’s is a genius in making the

work as a nurse at the local
hospital. She is often show off
various items as she advertising
those products.

Louis Marlon

Louis is Truman’s best friend

since childhood. Louis mostly
appear in the screen that Truman
caused trouble to the studio, and
he is a one who stop Truman’s
attempts to find the truth (as he
was ordered to).
2.2. The BIG EVENT – Truman sees his Father on the Street dressed as a homeless man. What is the effect
of this moment on Truman’s life?
This is the moment of the story where our main character started to questioning things and the world around him.

It’s the point where our main character started his journey on finding the truth about his life. By meeting his dad,
whos is supposed to be death long time ago, along with those people who took his dad away. This weird incident
made him think by to another time when he met this woman he likes who is from the “real world”. This woman
entered the truman’s world with the intention to let truman know that everything in his life is just a 24 on air
television show. However, the staffs in the show caught her before she could made him understand. Anyhow, it’s
enough for Truman to connect the dots together, taking him on a journey to figure it out on his own.
3. Discuss the
SPECIAL WORLD.
The world that Truman lives is repeating the same routine and dialog everyday. The
audience can see since the beginning that there is something wrong with this world.
Truman start to also spot some weirdness incident since one of the spotlight drop down
to the street from nowhere, later he saw his father got kidnapped right after he met him
and he ran on the street to follow his dad but all the car are stopping for him, and when
his radio is broken, he hear that someone is following him. The more he tried to find,
the more he knew that there is mystery with it. One of his goals is to find his highschool
crush in Fiji, but it seems like he can’t escape this town in a normalway because there
are someone behind this. He came up with the idea to sail out of seahaven to reach to
other place. The producer of this show still wanted to keep him here because he is really
dedicated to this show and said that “There is no more truth in the real world” but
Truman still decide to go out of this Special World and live his life.
4. In the end, discuss the central theme you think the film explores.

The main central themes of this movie is to show the desire of the one that has be
limited his natural experience and try to achieve the meaning of life by breaking
through fears and obstacles that can be quite mysterious and challenging. Throughout
the movie, the audience gradually learns about the the main characters(Trueman), with
other character around him and his world. We know that the story will not make
everything easy for him to achieve. So, we will also see him struggles, and not get what
we want since the beginning. But the effort he put in make him achieve in his goals at
the end.
