1.

PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFETY DURING SERVICING

1. Do not allow the customer to repair the product.


☞ The person may be injured or the product life may be shortened.
2. Be sure to unplug the power cord before starting to service (especially when servicing the electrical parts).
☞ Take extreme care of the electric shock.
3. Do not plug serveral plugs in the same outlet.
☞ It may cause the fire due to overheat.
4. Check if power plug or outlet is damaged, pressed, dented, or melted by hot temperature.
☞ Replace promptly if it is defective. (electric shock or fire hazard)
5. Be sure to ground. (Check grounding of outlet + additional grounding of metal water pipe)
☞ Electric shock hazard due to electric leakage
6. Do not clean the main body by directly using water.
☞ It may cause electric shock or fire and may shorten the product life.
7. Avoid exposing the wire harness to moisture and secure tightly during servicing.
☞ Secure wiring so as not to get loosened or deviated when given an impact.
8. Remove dirts or foreign materials around the housing, wire harness, contact points during servicing.
☞ Prevent the possibility of catching fire due to tracking or short.
9. Check if there is any evidence that electrical parts or harness has been exposed to moisture.
☞ If it has been exposed to moisture, replace the part or completely remove moisture.
10. Check the parts assembly status after servicing.
☞ Maintain the same status as before servicing.
11. When unplugging the power cord, hold the head part of the power cord.
☞ There may be dangers of electric shock or fire when the power cord is damaged.
12. Leave the power cord unplugged when the washing machine is not being used.
☞ There may be dangers of electric shock or fire due to a strike of lightening.
13. Do not use or store the spray or inflammable materials (including gasoline, thinner, alcohol etc.) nearby
the washing machine.
☞ There may be dangers of explosion or fire due to electric spark.
14. Do not put a water-containing bowel or wet laundry on the washing machine.
☞ If the water is spilled, it may cause electric shock or fire to the washing machine.
15. Do not install the washing machine in a place which is exposed to rain or snow.
☞ It may cause electric shock or fire and may shorten the product life.
16. Do not press the control buttons by using a pointed tool such as awl or pin.
☞ It may cause electric shock and trouble to the product.
17. Check if the washing machine is leveled horizontally and securely installed on the floor.
☞ The product life may be shortened by vibration.
18. If the washing machine does not stop the dehydration tub within 15 seconds after the cover is opened,
stop using immediately and let it repaired.
☞ The user may be injured by the spinning tub. (check shaft.)
19. Use connectors for joining the wires and secure them firmly.
☞ It may cause fire due to tracking if connected by using the adhesive tapes.
20. When the washing machine is to be laid for servicing, put the pad on the floor first and then lay the
machine by side carefully.
☞ If not handled with care, the front part may be deformed as R shaped.

2-2 Function of Control Keys

2-2-1 Automatic KEY: Course Selection KEY


1) Before the initial start key is entered or during the pause mode, each pressing of this key shows the
selectable courses as in the order below.

Fuzzy à Heavy Duty à Econo Wash à Wool à Blanket

2) Each time you press the key whilst in valid operation, it gives a beep sound for each key-in but it does not
perform any corresponding action.

3) When you press START/HOLD key and change the course while the selected course is valid and in normal
operation, the course selected at last resets the current settings as its default initial values even if you
adjusted the number of rinse times by using the Function key.

4) When the selected course is valid and in normal operation, pressing any key is valid except for the Course
Selection key. But in case of spin process, only the START/HOLD key and the Power key are valid.

5) Weight sensing feature is available only for Fuzzy, Heavy Duty, Econo Wash, Soak , Delay Start, Drip Dry
courses of Automatic process, and Wash, Wash+Rinse, Rinse, Rinse+Spin courses of Manual process.
Following is the initial water level of other courses for each key-in.

7) When the key is valid and in normal operation, pressing a manual key can update the corresponding
function. But it skips Process OFF.
In the Fuzzy course right after initial Power ON, manual key-in performs a independent manual fuction.

8) While a selected course is in operation or during the START/HOLD mode, each pressing of Manual/More
Rinse key shows the number of rinse times as in the order below.

9) When you select Fuzzy, Heavy Duty, Econo Wash or Soak, Delay Start, Drip Dry it performs full automatic
processing.
But in case of Wash, Wash+Rinse, Rinse, Rinse+Spin of Manual function, it follows the designated
settings for each process.
10) When the selected course starts operating, the LED indicator of the selected course blinks ON/OFF by
1 second interval and turns ON if Pause key is pressed.
1) The LED of each Wash, Rinse, and Spin of Manual Course blinks ON/OFF by 1 second interval
according to the procedure of each course. In case of Wash mode, only the Wash LED blinks ON/OFF
by 1 second interval, and the other LEDs stay turned ON. When in a Rinse mode, Wash LED turns
OFF, Rinse LED blinks ON/OFF and Spin LED stays ON.
When in a Spin mode, Spin LED blinks ON/OFF by 1 sec interval and the Wash and Rinse LEDs are
turned OFF.

2-2-2. Function Key


1) This function key is valid at the power ON initial status or after you pressed Pause key and then switched
to other course, and it is valid when we can usenumber of rinse times.

2) Before entering the Start key, display changes as the following.

Soak à Delay start à Drip dry à Wash à Rinse à Spin à Wash+Rinse à Rinse+Spin à Initial status

3) Process is performed times by default, but you can add Rinse times while a selected course is in
operation, and the rinse mode goes on based on the selected number of rinse times.

5) When you entered Start key or Water Level key that has been turned OFF by Manual key, it is reset to
initial status of Fuzzy mode. In case of Start key, it starts weight sensing (but it may be operating
differently when a water level is selected.), and in case of Water Level key it displays the Med. High
setting value of Fuzzy mode.

2-2-3 Water Supply Key


1) The Water Supply key is always valid except for Error cases.
a. Water Supply Error b. Drain Error

2) Pressing the key shows selectable options in the order as the following.

Cold Water à Hot/Cold Water à Hot Water

3) If you select a water supply by using the Water Supply key, the selected water supply setting remains
valid even if you changed a course after. If you switch to the Wool course, Cold Water is automatically
selected, but the previous setting is restored if you switch to other course.

4) While water is being supplied, the corresponding Water Supply lamp flashes ON/OFF by 1 second
interval.

5) The Water Supply setting selected initially for washing can be changed while a process is in operation and
is immediately applied at the moment of key-in.
If you change the Water Supply setting whilst in a Rinsing process, the new setting becomes valid until
the process is completed and that is also applicable to the case of Water Plus.

2-2-4 Start/Hold

1) Pressing the Start/Pause key toggles between Start and Pause as the following.

2-2-5 Water Level

1) The Water Level key is always valid except for Error cases.
v Error: Water Level Sensor, Water Supply Error, Drain Error

2) Pressing the Water Level key shows the options in the order as below.

Medium à High à Extra Low à Low à

3) If Blanket course is selected, only Medium level or above is available.

4) If Wool course is selected, only Med. Low level or above is available.

5) When you selected a water level, pressed Pause key, and changed a course to Blanket or Wool , the
Blanket course is automatically set to High level if the water level is under Medium but it remains the
previous setting if the water level is Medium or above, and the Wool course is automatically set to High
level if the water level is under Low. Low but it remains the previous setting if the water level is Med. Low
or above.

6) If Water Level is changed by pressing the Water Level key before Motor starts rotating, the water
supplying time also is changed according to the selected water level so the remaining time is re-
calculated.

7) In the Fuzzy course, after the initial data is displayed, pressing the Water Level key re-displays the
remaining time according to the selected water level.
But if you enter Start key without setting a water level at the initial status of Fuzzy course, the initial data
is still displayed until the weight sensing is completed.

2-3 Main Functions

2-3-1 Washing
1. Water Supply
1) The water supply function of each process opens the corresponding water valve ON until the selected
water level is fulfilled.

2) Following is water levels available. (Unit: QÕty-1, Frequency: KHz)

3) If the water supply is not completed yet after the standard time allocated for water supplying has passed,
the remaining time does not count down any more.

4) If the water supply is already completed before the standard time allocated for water supplying has
passed, the remaining time counts down as much as the standard time and then proceed to next step.

5) If the water supply is not completed even after 60 minutes has passed, Water Supply Error function is
performed. (Including the water supply or re-supply for the purpose of clearing Unbalance.)

6) If a Water Level key is entered again after the water supply is all finished, and if the newly set level is
higher than the current level, then the water supply process is performed again, and the Motor is turned
OFF and the remaining time does not count down during water supply.

7) Water Supply Time Table for each Water Level

2. Soak Function
1) The soak course is performed only when it is selected by pressing the Soak key.

2) If the water is supplied up to the selected water level, soaking is repeatedly performed by 5 minutes
interval for total 30 minutes. (Motor rotates for 1 min and stops for 4 min.)
3) If the water level is changed to a higher level while soaking is in operation, it stops soaking and starts
water supply, and then resume the soaking process.

4) Once the soaking is stopped and resumed again for any reason such as changed water level or Pause
and Re-start, the ongoing settings are still valid starting the soaking process from the breakpoint.

5) During the soaking process, the selected Soak LED flashes ON/OFF by 1 second interval.

3. Delay start function


1) This function should be used after the reserve function is selected by manual key after course selection.
2) Reserve time can be adjusted in 3-18 hours by the manual key after pressing Start key and all courses
and cycles will be suspended until the set reserve time elapsed.

4. Drip dry function


1) This function is used only after the wrinkles protention function is selected by the manual key after course
selection.
2) It stops after the final drainage for the selected course after the Start key is pressed.

5. Wash Function
1) Water Plus is performed if the current water falls short of the selected water level by sensing the water
level setting, washing for 2 min and 9 min, turning the Motor OFF, then reading the water level frequency,
and the washing process goes on after proper water supply. The time for Water Plus does not exceed
Max. 1 minute.
v In case of Rinse, Water Plus is also performed 1 minute later.

2) Water Current Table per Water Level, Course and Washing Process of a selected washing.
(Refer to Attachment.)

3) The water supply function does for 2min, 9min in all courses and all water levels, and
the Rinse function starts after 1 min. Time Out is after 30 seconds.

4) If the water supply function is performed twice in one course, it is regarded as if water supply function is
completely done however time setting is changed.

5) If the water supply function is performed once and then the washing time is changed,
it is performed one more time in the changed settings.

2-3-2 Rinse Process


1. Drain Function
1) Drain function maintains the drain valve open ON.
If the water level at initial operation is higher than Reset, the drain function is performed for 54 seconds
after detecting Reset. If the water level at initial operation is lower than Reset, the drain function is
performed for 24 seconds after detecting Reset.

2) After starting the drain function, the remaining time starts counting down until the standard drain time
elapses, and stops counting down thereafter.
If the drain function is completed, it is regarded as the standard drain time is finished.

3) If the water level is still higher than Reset when 5 min has passed after drain function is started, it
performs Drain Error function. Buzzer beeps 5 times and then enters the Pause mode.

4) If the Start key is pressed in the above item 3), the Error status is cleared and
Time Out is reset to 15 min again and then drain function resumes.

2. Intermittent Spinning
1) Opening the door while the Intermittent Spin is in operation stops spinning and generates Door Open
Alarm (Door Open Melody 5 times).

2) If the door is closed while the Door Open Alarm is ongoing, the alarm status is terminated and
proceeds to the next step in as identical order as in Start/Hold key-in.

3) If the Satefy S/W is sensed as Unbalance during the Intermittent Spinning cycle,
it performs Unbalance Clear function.
a. Unbalance Sensing Function
- S/W Sensing Time
UNBALANCE : 20-700ms, Door Open : 701ms or more
- Immediately on detecting the 20mS the driving compartment turns OFF when Door is opened.
If the Door is closed while the Door Open Alarm is undergoing, the alarm status becomes invalid and
the drain valve turns ON min. 10 seconds after OFF, and MOTOR resumes 10 seconds
after the drain valve turns ON.
b. Unbalance Clear Function
- If Unbalance is sensed, it immediately performs ML OFF and Drain Valve OFF and then starts water
supply after 10 seconds.
- Water Supply à Rinse function (1min, Release Current) is performed.
- At the initial operation of this function, [Standard Time of Water Supply+1 min] is added to the
remaining time of the corresponding process.
- After performing the Unbalance Clear Function, it resumes starting from the initial process (Drain).
- If the water level is changed to a higher level while the Unbalance Clear Function is in operation,
Motor stops rotating and performs water supply for a selected level and then resumes the
Unbalance Clear function for the remaining time.
7 WASHING MACHINE

c. If UNBALANCE error has occurred, it performs clearing function up to 2nd time of error and alarms
UNBALANCE ERROR for 3rd error or later. If error happens, open the door and then close it in order to
get the corresponding process resumed starting from the initial process(Drain).
v If UNB. ERROR is detected for 3 times or more, it checks Door status after 2 seconds.
(Except for spinning as a single course)
d. When UNBALANCE error has occurred during spinning as a single course, it performs error clearing
function once and then alarms UNBALANCE ERROR if the error persists.
e. Display flashes ÔUEÕ by 1 second interval and generates ERROR MELODY 5 times.

3. Spin Function
1) The Spin function allows the Washing Motor to rotate to the left and to maintain the Drain Valve opened
for the whole spinning time.

2) Other functions are as identical as Intermittent Spin function.

3) The spin time after washing, the spin time after rinsing, last spinning time are based on the Time Chart.

4. Pause Function
1) The Pause function turns ML OFF for 1 min and 30 seconds and turns the Drain Valve ON continuously.

2) If the Door is opened while the Pause function is in operation during the Rinse cycle,
it gives Door Open Error and resumes processing after Door is closed.

3) If the door is opened while the Pause function is in operation during the Spin cycle, it exits the Spin
function.

5. Water Supply
1) Identical as the Water Supply function of Wash process

6. Rinse Function
1) If a selected water level is fulfilled, the Rinse function is performed.

2) Rinsing time is 2 min performal

2-3-3 Spin Process


1) Identical as the Intermittent Spin and Spin functions of Rinse process

2) In case of Wool course, spinning is intermittently operated for 10 seconds and stops for 5 seconds.

2-3-4 Exit Process


1) After all the selected process is completed, it performs Exit process.

2) While the Exit function is in operation, it gives End Melody and turns all the driving compartment.
pThe display shows Ò00Ó ON/OFF by 1 second interval.

3) If the Exit function is finished, it automatically turns Power Relay OFF.

2-4 Special Functions

2-4-1 ERROR Function

1. Water Level Sensor ERROR


1) When the Water Level Sensor detects a frequency less than 15KHz or more than 30KHz for more than 5
seconds
2) DISPLAY : 1E 0.5 sec. ON/OFF
3) How to Clear : Turn the Power Key ON.

2. Defective POWER RELAY


1) When the power does not turn OFF even if it meets the auto power OFF condition.
(Operates only in the TEST MODE)
2) Generates ERROR MELODY 5 times.
3) DISPLAY : 2E
4) How to Clear : Turn the Power Key ON.

3. Water Supply ERROR


1) When the Water Supply does not reach for the selected water level after 60 min has passed since starting
to supply water.
2) Generates ERROR MELODY 5 times.
3) DISPLAY : 7E
4) How to Clear : Press Start/Hold Key to clear the Error status and to resume Water Supply.

4. Drain ERROR
1) When the water level does not fall under Reset level after 15 min has passed since starting to drain.
2) Generates ERROR MELODY 5 times.
3) DISPLAY : E 0.5 sec. ON/OFF
4) How to Clear : Press Start/Hold Key to clear the Error status and to resume Water Drain.

5. Door Open ERROR


1) When the Door is opened during the Intermittent Spin and Spin.
2) Generates ERROR MELODY 5 times.
3) DISPLAY : dE 0.5 sec. ON/OFF
4) How to Clear : Close the Door.

1) When UNBALANCE is sensed 2 times in one Spin cycle

2-4-2 Auto Power OFF function


1) Auto Power OFF function automatically turns Power Relay OFF after all the selected process is finished
and End Melody is generated.

2-4-3 Rinse Solution Input Function


1) The function adds rinse solution at the last stage of Rinse, and it turns OFF the Rinse Solution Valve and
performs Water Supply if the number of Rinse times is increased while adding the rinse solution is in
operation.

2) If Pause key is pressed while it is adding the rinse solution and then Start key is pressed, it stops adding
the rinse solution and then resume adding for the remaining time later at the last stage of rinsing.

2-5 TEST PROGRAM MODE

2-5-1 TEST MODE 1 (Drive and other test)


1. How to enter the Test Mode
(1) Procedure: [Water level + Power S/W On, then Course Key]
01 ➝ 02 ➝ 03 ➝ 04 ➝ 05 ➝ 06 ➝ 07 ➝ 08

1) Mode 1 (Drive test)

(1) Each drive section will be checked by alternately switching of on/off each second with 01 on the display when the start key
is pressed with the 01 being on the 88-seg.

(2) Operation procedure is as below.

(1) Spin course will solely run after the duration of delay time of drainage valve with 02 on display when the start key is
pressed with the 02 being on the display.
The intermittent spin starts by only three times, and the Door Open and Unbalance error will be detected to display it on
the display and put the motor off.
(2) Continuous spin course runs in the order of 5 min. on ¡ off. (3 min.)
(3) The drainage function is activated by detecting water level.

3. Mode 3 (Wash aging)


(1) The wash motor will operate until the power is put off with 03 on the display when the start key is pressed with the 03 on
the display.
(2) For water table refer to that of Fuzzy course.
(3) Water level is sensed.
4) Mode 4 (Water level sensor)
(1) The display displays water level frequency in figures of HEX.
5) Mode 5(Weight sensor)
(1) The display displays water level frequency in 2 figures of DECIMAL.
6) Mode 6 (Weight sensor)
(1) Weight of washing clothes is sensed by the Test Program and the data is displayed on 8 segments. .
7) When the Course Add key is pressed with a mode valid, the mode will be released and it will be turned to a specified mode
by the using of Course Add key, and the last designated mode will be made valid when pressing start key at the time.

2-5 TEST PROGRAM MODE

2-5-2 TEST MODE 2 (Test to Extract Weight Sensing Data)


(1) How to Enter : [Course + Water Level + Power S/W ON]

(2) Initial DISPLAYon entering the test mode : same as initial status of Power ON (Fuzzy course) .

(3) The operation status is as identical as the control status of normal Fuzzy course, and the power does
not turn OFF but enters the initial status of Power ON to automatically start after all the test course is
finished.
