TOMS: TOMorrow’s Shoes

TOMS shoes has different programs and practices, but they are generally known for
their “One for One” philosophy that matches every pair of shoes sold with a new pair for
a child in need. In fact they have already produced 100 million shoes to people in need
(TOMS, 2019).
Aside from this program,
 TOMS support organizations like Think Outside Da Block, which leads evening
bike rides that bring communities together. They believe that everyone has the
right to live free of violence, whether that means at home or in their community;
 TOMS support organizations like The Mix, which provides young people with
free, confidential support. They believe that everyone should be in a position to
realize their full potential, coping with daily stressors, living productive lives, and
contributing to their community; and
 TOMS support organizations like Magic Bus, which helps to ensure girls and
boys complete their education and build the skills they need to move out of
poverty. They believe everyone should have equal access to education,
healthcare, and decent work.
TOMS Shoes’ have been using their business for 14 years in improving lives in giving
shoes and grants to the people in need. They also established their own Giving Team,
which they funded with one-third of their net annual profit.
According to Guo ( 2015), once a company has further grown and expanded, it is
recommended that creating a branch focused on the execution of charitable tasks and
activities TOMS has never failed to extend its CSR practices. Aside from the shoes,
they have also launched businesses that runs in the “One for One” philosophy, they
have launched eyewear that starts also in donating eyeglasses and help people restore
their sights through providing surgery. They have also launched TOMS bags that has its
mission to help a safe birth delivery to all the mothers in need (TOMS,n.d).

Their programs and practices are sustainable because they have a well-established
mission and CSR plan. The purpose of mission is also to offer inspiration, general
direction, an image the character of the company, and a tone or set of tones. attitudes,
by which actions are directed (Ireland & Hirc, 1992). Their founder and their team care
genuinely to their mission and works with integrity in the company. With this, consumers
will be influenced in considering or choosing TOMS products because they know the
mission that they are investing in.
