Reflect on your reading by answering the questions below. Write your answers

1. How was the physical self-described by the different experts?


- The physical self was described through the observation of the self physically. How the self-
move, talk, and how the self-look. As you can see on the reading material that the experts
describe the self through observation or examination. It describes that your physical
appearance will define yourself and it also describes how does of our perception of our body
affect how we think of ourself.
2. What is the role of self-esteem in the physical self?
- The physical self-changes through time from babyhood to adulthood, and these changes
might be negative or positive. Whether your face got acne during your adolescence or you got
a glow up. Through these changes, your self-esteem might be affected by having negative
changes in your body or your physical self.
3. How can you relate this aspect of the self to real-life situations?
-I can relate to this aspect of the self by observing how they look upon themselves and how
someone is being affected by their image or physical self. Through observation, I can tell if a
person has low self-esteem or has high self-esteem. Suppose a person is too shy to
participate or socializing because he has acne over him; I can say that person has low self-
esteem.

1. In your own words, how would you describe the sexual self?
- The sexual self is the self that focuses in terms of the primary sex characteristics of a human
or the physical characteristics that are present at birth, such as; vagina for females and the
penis for males or commonly known as the Male and Female reproductive organs.
2. What is the impact of the sexual self, especially on students?
- When a student learns and understands his sexual development and how people's sexual
activity and unlimited access to the internet can influence their sexual behavior and responses
and reach the stage where they experience interest in romantic and sexual relationships and
behaviors. In other words, this stage is when a student experience lust.
3. How does the sexual self help you develop who you are?
-The sexual self helps me develop by knowing myself well regarding relationships. It also helps
me develop my mind on how I think and act when it is all about sex. It makes me more mature
in terms of sexual orientation.

1. How did William James describe his view of the material self?
-William James describes the self through the product or the material that we possess. It
means the material of ourselves will describe our personality and characteristic. An example of
this is the clothes you want to wear or the fabric you wish to or, in short, fashion.
2. Nowadays, people are more concerned about the latest trends, especially in fashion and
technology. As a student, how does the material self impact your life?
-I grew with a typical family in a simple living society, so I'm not a materialistic person because
I am not privileged to buy all the things I want, so I appreciate everything I have. In terms of
technology, of course, today we need it the most for education purposes, so I think my material
self is alive these days when it comes to technology or gadgets.

1. How was the spiritual self described in the reading materials?


-The spiritual self describes who we are at our core. This aspect of the self is the self, which
develops a certain level of spirituality. It is about who you think you are and your feelings about
yourself apart from external evaluations. It also describes your spiritual self is a part of you that
answers why you exist.
2. As a Filipino student, what’s your view on your spiritual self?
- As a student, the spiritual self is the self that focuses on religion and spirituality. Being faithful
and practicing a religion that is good for individuals, family, state, and the nation is your
spiritual self. It improves health, learning, economic well-being, self-control, self-esteem, and
empathy.
