Hello PMP Aspirants,

I have penned down few important techniques that helped me crack the exam in first attempt with
above target score and within 10 weeks prep. Please read through and make necessary changes as
per your requirement.

Time:
‘Start with the finish in mind’ – Before anything, first pick the week in which you are going to take
the exam. This is the major step towards the final goal of getting PMP certified. 8-12 weeks should
be ideal for the preparation depending on your project management exposure and mainly the
amount of time you can dedicate daily.

It took me around 10 weeks. Below is what I followed religiously:

• I fixed daily 2 Hrs in the morning towards the preparation. Mornings suited me the best,
choose your time based on your schedule. But daily see to it that you study during that time.
• Top up the weekends with 2 additional hours.
• 5 days before the exam I studied for almost 10-12 hrs daily.

Process:
• I bought PMP Exam Prep -Seminar by Mr. Joseph Phillips from Udemy. Aligns with PMBOK 6
edition, neatly structured and beautifully delivered. I strongly recommend this course to
those who are yet to get the required 35 PDU’s and for all those who have completed the
prep course ages back and are now planning to venture towards the certification.
• I did all the lectures in the course and importantly made my notes during the lectures.
• I did chapter-by-chapter from the course and studied respective content in PMBOK before
proceeding further.
• First, finish the fundamentals i.e. chapter 1, 2 and 3 from PMBOK. And before getting into
the Integration management I advise to see the below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GC7pN8Mjot8 . This gives a high-level view of the
entire project management.
• Download and take a colour print of the Ricardo Process flow Simplified and stick at the
place your study - https://ricardo-vargas.com/pmbok6-processes-flow/ . While studying,
have a look at this process flow. It assists in better understanding.
• In the first go, Just Skim the Integration Management and move on with Scope. Conclude the
rest of the Knowledge areas and then comeback to Integration it will be very easy to
corelate.
• In your notes after every process make a brief about the process (not more than 3 lines),
important Inputs/Output/Tools & Techniques (Only the main ITTO’s). This will help you while
revising.

Material:
• I referred to PMBOK 6 edition and Rita Mulcahy.
• I completely studied PMBOK 6 once, highlighted key points and referred to Rita for topics
which I did not understand. Revised mainly from my notes and the highlighted topics of
PMBOK/Rita.
• Rita explains the process in a layman’s language. It is easy to follow and remember. Give
extra focus to all Tricks of the Trade and try to complete all the Exercises. This will help in
answering situational questions in the exam.
• Take all end-of-course section Quiz from Joseph and Rita. Take the quiz only when you have
studied the section for which you are taking the quiz else it is useless.
• While taking the quiz:
o Record the time and percentage for each of the test.
o Note the questions where you are not 100% sure of the answer
o Wrongly answered questions

Analyse the unsure answers even if they are correct and the wrong answers. Make
notes. Again, I repeat - make notes.

• Mock up exam - I used Testingministry.com , free with login

http://examspm.testingministry.com . It offers 4 full mock up, a 100 questions real exam and
50 questions each process group.
• 2 Mock up exams as part of PMP Exam Prep -Seminar by Mr. Joseph Phillips.
