Topic: DIFFERENT TYPES OF READING STYLES (SCAN, SKIM, SPEED READING, INTENSIVE READING

Target Learners: Grade VII

Objectives:

a. identify the different reading styles and its functions


b. appreciate the importance of each reading style
c. apply the different reading styles in getting information.
Materials to be used:

If Traditional:

Cut-up Cartolinas, Marking Pen, hand-outs, Microphone lapel( it depends if I have a hoarse voice that
day), cut up articles of a newspaper, a book as a reference.

If Modern or Online:

Powerpoint presentation, Article about Covid to serve as example, Articles of the newspaper to use as
applying the types of reading styles, short story of the book(Ugly Duckling),a soft copy of the hand-outs
of the topic

Introduction:

Text Twist Game (Motivation) which has the materials of Cartolina and marking pen. Students will
arrange the jumbled words with the help of clues for each jumbled words.

Development:

The students will then listen to the teachers discussion about the types of reading styles. Teacher will
provide examples for each reading styles.

Practice:

Synchronous:

The teacher will then present a short story of the book(Ugly Duckling),an article of a newspaper. The
teacher will also provide questions as a rubric for the quiz. The students will then apply what they
learned and get the meaning or interpretations of the book and article with the help of the rubric.

Asynchronous:

The teacher will ask the students to give examples that shows on how to use the different reading styles
with their selected articles, selected short story and selected book. The teacher will also give rubrics on
grading their work.

Closure:

The teacher will then ask the students what is the topic all about to determine if the students have
understood the topic and will also serve as recall of the topic. After the students answered it, the
teacher will give assignment which is related to the topic
