It is important to inspect the cord of the newborn to know if the cord is properly clamped since loosen
cord clamp can result to severe bleeding which put the infants life at risk. Umbilical cord care is also
important to prevent infection, it is important to keep the cord open and dry to fasten the healing since
if there is moist, bacteria will follow.

Screening of the newborn is important to identify if the baby is healthy or in good condition or if there
are particular conditions that the babies have such as disease , and also incase that there are some
abnormal condition that have been detected then it can be prevented and necessary medication can be
applied immediately to prevent the spread or lessen the effect of it.
