Promote the development of public-private partnerships in support of university research, link the university’s

Selected Achievements:
 Instrumental in CIIT winning the 1 st. Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry Achievement
Award (gold medal). FPCCI is the apex body for trade and industry of Pakistan.

industrial competitiveness.

Selected Achievements:
 Took lead in starting the first Agriculture-sector business incubation centre project at the University of
Agriculture, Faisalabad.

 Improved the matching grants/business incubator selection and evaluation criteria to make it simple, more
objective, and structured in terms of timeline.

National University of Sciences & Technology Islamabad, Pakistan 10/2003-5/2009

General Manager, Technology Incubation Centre (3/2007 – 5/2009)


Managed operations of the first technology incubator in Pakistan that provides physical office space and a
basic set of services to tech. based start-up businesses. The incubator hosted 11 companies with annual
revenue of over Rs. 55 million and 60 full time employees. In 2008, first company graduated from the
incubation centre.

Selected Achievements:
 Restructured the organization to meet the challenges of creating an 'incubation friendly' environment for
potential entrepreneurs to incubate their technology based companies.

 Secured a World Bank infoDev. ‘capacity building’ grant for incubation industry in Pakistan. InfoDev. is a
global program to promote innovative projects for economic and social development.

 Designed the state of the art incubator building (now functional) at the new NUST campus in H-12 Islamabad.
 Started NUST Professional Development Centre as its founding project director.
 Developed and presented project proposal for the NUST Technology Park (first in Pakistan) estimated at a cost
of Rs. 5.16 billion to be built on a land parcel of 50 acres.
 Strengthened international links through active participation with AABI, NBIA, BIIA, and the World Bank.

Managed the Division while performing teaching/research in subject areas of operations and technology
management. Ensured that qualified faculty is available in the area of specialization. Periodically reviewed

As member of the executive Staff team, managed Quality Assurance Department at Newell-Rubbermaid’s
Centerville, IA plant, a manufacturing facility of outdoor storage products. Managed customer and supplier
relationships from an Operations’ perspective. Spearheaded system-wide profitability improvements using
advanced concepts of TQM and lean manufacturing.

Selected Achievements:

 Rigorously analyzed customer complaints/warranty claims data to unhide the fact that the plant was losing
38% of its operating income due to poor quality.
 Saved over $1.0 million by implementing process improvements in assembly line layout, packing sequence,
operator training, and simplification/standardization.
 Developed and implemented an On the Job Training system for the shopfloor workers. Implemented use of
visual shopfloor management.
 Implemented a system to regularly conduct Kaizen Blitz resulting in 50% increase in capacity and $0.7 million
in cost savings to the company in one year.
 Implemented cellular manufacturing principles in a challenging environment where it was difficult to change
the plant layout due to heavy machinery and a culture that relied on heaps of WIP and FG inventory.
