Coolant Pressure Is Low

SMCS - 1395-035

Use this procedure to troubleshoot a low coolant pressure. Also, use this procedure if one of the following
event codes is active or logged.

Table 1
J1939 Code and Description Comments

The engine coolant pressure is below the map-based trip point

pressure for the programmed delay time.
Engine Coolant Pressure : Low
The fuel is shut off.
- most severe (3)
The code is logged.

109-17 The engine coolant pressure is below the map-based trip point
Engine Coolant Pressure : Low pressure for the programmed delay time.
- least severe (1) The code is logged.

Recommended Actions

Steam or hot coolant can cause severe burns.

Do not loosen the filler cap or the pressure cap on a hot engine.

Allow the engine to cool before removing the filler cap or the pressure
cap.
