GRADE: 4 TIME ALLOTMENT: 45 minutes

I. LEARNING TARGETS/SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:

A. Content Standard(s): The learners demonstrate understanding of changes that
materials undergo when exposed to certain conditions.
B. Performance Standard(s): The learners should be able to evaluate whether the
changes in materials are useful or harmful to one's environment
C. Learning Competency/ies: Identify some ways of changing solid materials, such
as size, shape, texture, etc
D. Specific Objectives:
 Define what solid is.
 Identify some ways of changing solid materials in terms of size, shape,
texture etc.
 Describe the changes that happen/s in solid materials.
II. LEARNING CONTENT: Changes in Solid Materials
Topic/title: Changes that Materials Undergo

III. LEARNING RESOURCES:

A. References: (LM): Science IV Textbook., Lelani A., Ph.D., et al. 2015. P. 29-30

B. Materials:
1. Activity: candle, aluminum foil, ice cube, wooden stick, crepe paper, plastic cup,
chocolate bar, plastic ruler, electric wire, paper clip, spoon, rubber slippers
2. Lesson Proper: laptop, projector

IV. PROCEDURE:

Explore

 The class will be grouped into 3.

 The teacher will each group the materials needed for the activities.
 Each group will participate on the activity by following the steps given by
the teacher.
Explain

After the activity, the students are asked to present their observations written on
the manila paper and to explain it.

V. REMARKS:
1. The lesson was finished in a day.
2. The pupils have learnt the lesson smoothly and fun.
VI. REFLECTION: (NOT to be filled up unless the DLP was already accomplished. I
just filled this up for example purposes only)

A. No. of learners who earned 80% on the

formative assessment
B. No. of learners who require additional
activities for remediation
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of
learners who have caught up with the
lesson
D. No. of learners who continue to require
remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked
well? Why did these work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which
my principal or supervisor can help me
solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials
did I use/discover which I wish to share
with other teachers?

B. Activities.

Activity 1: “How Can I Change It?”

Steps:
1. With the given solid materials, show ways by which you could change the
state of the materials’ size, shape, texture, etc.
2. Fill in column 2 to identify way/s of changing the material.
3. Fill in column 3 to describe the changes that occurred in the material.

Guide Questions:
1. What are some ways of changing materials?
2. What changes may happen to solid materials when change in temperature
and/or surrounding pressure is applied?

Activity 2: “What Happens to the Solid Materials when Bent?”

Steps:
1. Bend each of the given solid materials. Observe and describe what
happens to each material.
2. Write your observation on the second column.
