INTERNSHIP WEEKLY REPORT

Period: From July 15, 2019 to July 19, 2019 (48 hours)
1) Task(s) assigned to me this week
o July 16- To consolidate all the data that we together with my co-intern gathered when we
were deployed to Sandoval and Pinagbuhatan Consolidator warehouses. Also to make a
powerpoint regarding the data of the trucks in the said warehouses with the following
outputs:
o Determine the height of the truck from its container floor down the ground in
different points.
o To determine what kind of truck are we measuring through inspection and
through the capacity written on it.
o To solve for the volume of the specific trucks through the data that we have
measured (height, with and length of its container).
o To determine whether the height from the truck’s container floor down to the
ground that we have measured would be compatible for the measurement of the
loading docks in a specific DC.
o To make a hypothesis on how to solve the problem when the trucks are not
compatible with the loading docks.
o July 17- To polish Project 1 using the updated data given.

2) Skills used in the task(s)


 I used some basic Excel skills.
 Critical thinking skills were used to make an inference using the data gathered.

3) What I leaned from this week?


 July 16 – We went to Sandoval and Pinagbuhatan consolidator warehouses and I learned
about the different kind of trucks and how the pallets were loaded to the truck using the
forklift. I also learned how the picker collects different SKUs of FG from the given rack
positions.
 July 18- I learned how to compute for the area of the warehouse using the total no. of
pallets that we have computed in Project 1. I have learned that the space of the aisle,
staging area and rack high were also needed in order to compute for total area. I have also
learned about the Base-Rate Percentage Triangle that was used to compute for area.

4) My Accomplishments
4.1) Highlights
 July 16-Finished the powerpoint about the compatibility of the trucks and
presented it to our immediate supervisors.
4.2) Lowlights

 July 19- Recomputed Project 1 using the updated data given.

6) Issues being experienced/encountered


6.1) Difficulties experienced/encountered
 The updated file that the Marketing team sent us has different bundles amd SKUs
than the previous one yet the new file was also incomplete.
6.2) How do I manage and resolve it?
 I made a new excel using the data from the updated file and one of my immediate
heads have sent an email regarding that matter and also requesting for a meeting.

7) Issues to discuss with my UST Internship Adviser


 I wanted to seek for advices and materials as reference that would help me to furthermore
understand warehousing.

8) Next Steps
o Prepare for a meeting with the Marketing team next week to discuss the issues about the
data for the bundled packs.
