INTERNSHIP WEEKLY REPORT

Period: From July 22, 2019 to July 26, 2019 (38.4 hours)
1) Task(s) assigned to me this week
o July 22- Regarding the updated file of bundle packs, I needed to separate computation of
pallets for the input or the inbound finished goods from the output or outbound finished
goods and to sort it by target month of bundling.
o July 25- Measure the dimensions of the column post and the outer line enclosed to it in
South Mega DC. It was measured to verify if the dimensions of the post matches with the
dimensions given to the supplier of the racks.
o July 26- Measure the dimensions of the dock leveler and racks in the DC of the former
plant in Rosario, Pasig. To check if the dimensions of the rack would be compatible for
the charging station of the MHEs in South Mega DC. Based on the layout of the South
Mega DC, we needed to count the number of water closets, urinals and sinks per work
station and to compute for the capacity of the persons to be served.

2) Skills used in the task(s)

 I used some basic Excel skills
 Analyzation skills used for the layout of South Mega DC
 Some concepts learned in Ergonomics that I have used while measuring.
3) What I leaned from this week?
 July 25- We went to South Mega DC to check the progress of the warehouse. My
supervisors together with the contractors were discussing about the changes they want
like the changes in placing of the water closet and I learned something about the
facilities, layout and design of the warehouse. I also learned that we have to measure the
dimensions of the column post because it is a factor to consider for installation of the
racking system.
 July 26- We had a meeting with a representative in the Marketing team and we had a
discussion regarding the missing data in which she explained that they could not give the
palletizing scheme since it was the machine that would give the bundle an item code.
With regards to the South Mega DC, I learned that the ratio of toilet fittings should be
aligned with the users depending on their gender.

4) My Accomplishments
4.1) Highlights
 July 26- Consolidated all the data gathered of a DC in Rosario, Pasig.
 July 25- Determine the number of water closets, urinals, sinks per toilet and
computed for the capacity of persons to be served for each toilet.
4.2) Lowlights
 July 23- Consolidated and sorted the data from the new file sent to us.
6) Issues being experienced/encountered
6.1) Difficulties experienced/encountered
 We had a problem in measuring the rack high using the laser measuring tool since
it was a selective type of rack.
6.2) How do I manage and resolve it?
 We measured it at a different angle using the Pythagorean method. We measured
its adjacent and hypotenuse and solved for the rack high.

7) Issues to discuss with my UST Internship Adviser

 I wanted to seek for advices and materials as reference about Facilities Layout and
Design for me to furthermore understand warehousing.

8) Next Steps
 Encoding of files and finish Project 1.
