POST OPERATIVE AMBULATION

A. SCENARIO
In the X Hospital in the Melati room there was a patient named Mr.X. who
was 45 years old. Mr.X is a appendectomy post operative patient, while being treated
Mr.X had bed rest and caused his limbs to feel stiff, making it difficult to perform
activities such as taking food, drinking, or toiletting. Therefore the nurse will teach
Mr.X. For early ambulation to reduce the feeling of stiffnes in his limbs

Andhro and Indah : Assalamualaikum wr.wb


Yanuar and Selvia : Wa’alaikumsalam wr.wb
Selvia : What’s up Nurse ?
Indah : Previously, My name is Nurse X. And this my friend Nurse
X, who will be on duty this morning
Andhro : So this is Ma’am because Mr.X is experiencing bed rest after
the surgery, We from the Melati room will teach early
Ambulation to Mr.X for the purpose of accelerating recovery
and healing.
Selvia : Then for the procedure of action what about Nurses, What
will be given medicine.
Indah : No ma’am. So later Mr. X. Will sleep on his back, then he
will teach Mr.X. to tilt left and right. After That will be done
flexion, extension of the limbs and heels.
Selvia : Are there any side effect after early ambulation ?
Andhro : For side effects in the future, the patient will be able to
perform activities independently and will prevent pressure
sores.
Yanuar and Selvia : Many advantages Yes, after early ambulation.
Indah : Yes Ma’am for a contract time of about 7 to 10 minutes in this
room. Do you have more questions ? If not I stars yes.
Selvia : Yes, Nurse Please !
Andhro : To maintain the comfort of Mr. X. I will close the curtains
first, Then I will wash My hands After that, wearing a
handscoon.
Yanuar : Good Nurse .
Indah : Good, to start Mr. X can position the supine sleep in a position
as comfortable as possible.
Yanuar : Yes, already Nurse.
Andhro : Does Mr.X. feel, dizzy, or nauseous at the moment ?
Yanuar : There are no nurses, Just pain and the body feels stiff.
Indah : Good, For the next I will examine the legs whether edema or
not ?
( For lower extremities both no edema and no injuries )
Yanuar : Yes, Nurse.
Selvia : Then what about Nurse. ?
Andhro :Then Mr. X position can be tilted to the left, Righ foot can be
bent First and Right hand above the chest.
( There are no injuries sir, Are there any complaints felt? )
Yanuar : Nurse Pain.
Indah : Okay, Then you can lie on your back, sir.
Yanuar : Yes Nurse, Then what else ?
Andhro : Then the father can tilt to right with the position of the left leg
bent and left hand on the chest.
( There are no injuries sir, Are there any complaints felt? )
Yanuar : Still in pain.
Indah : Okay, Then you can lie on your back, sir.
Yanuar : Yes, Nurse.
Andhro : Next, I will do flexion and extension in the heel of the foot
alternately.
( How does it feel sir, does it hurt ? )
Yanuar : No Nurse, is better.
Indah : Then I will do flexion and extension on the right and left leg.
( How does it feel ?)
Yanuar : Feels light. Nurse
Andhro : Alhamdulillah, the action is over sir, How do you feel after the
ambulation ?
Yanuar : It’s better the body feels comfortable and isn’t stiff.
Indah : Good, for a follow up plan later I will teach sitting and
walking practice.
( How sir, Do you have anything to ask ?)
Yanuar : There are no, Nurse.
Andhro : For that if you need something the family can contact the
Nurse’s office. ( Please excuse me, sir) Assalamualaikum
Yanuar and Selvia : Thank you Nurse ( Wa’alaikumsalam wr.wb)
