Descriptive Analysis:

Descriptive Analysis is a summarized study of different parameters that describes qualities

of a set of information based on different parameters.

The research methodology followed is a sample has been computed to understand/estimate

the various factors pertaining to population.

The tests that were conducted by us to summarize different sets of information are:
1. Mean:

1. Mean:
- Mean is the average of all the values
in a given parameter of the dataset.
- Mean is calculated by adding all the
figures and dividing it by the total
number of figures.
2. Variance (for sample):
2. Variance:
- Variance in statistics is done to check
how far the figures in the dataset are
away from the mean.

3. Standard deviation:
3. Standard deviation (for sample): - Standard deviation is the positive
square-root of variance.
- Std. dev. Looks at how the numbers
in the data set are away from the
mean. This tells the skewness of the
data set.

1. Number of Covid-19 positive patients:

 We collected data of 27 states & union-territories. The mean of sum of different states is

61042.

 The highest number of covid-19 patients are in Maharashtra at 362534 and the minimum

number of patients are found in Goa which is 84.

 Standard deviation is high at 102179 which is an indication of data being far from the mean.

This means that data is not clustered around the mean.

 Skewness is 2.29 and the kurtosis is 4.28. Since, skewness is higher than 1, we can say that

the data is highly skewed to the right. Higher kurtosis indicates towards a leptokurtic curve.

2. Number of active Aarogya Setu app users:

 We have collated data of the number of Aarogya Setu app users within a radius of 500m,1

km, 2km, 5km and 10 km.

 The data seen in the table given above is for the 10 km radius.

 This data gives us an indication of which area is more sensitive and cautious about using

these services provided by the govt.

 The Mean is 1390258 with the highest being in the state of Andhra Pradesh and the lowest

in the state of Sikkim.

 The kurtosis for the given data is 9.8 which is very high suggesting a highly leptokurtic

curve.

3. Number of Government hospitals:

 The Average number of govt. hospitals in the range of 10 km is 27. Highest frequency or

number of Hospitals is 108 in Maharashtra and 1 in Manipur.

 Skewness is 1.1 and we can infer that the data is clustered around the mean. The kurtosis

level of 2.3 indicates that the curve is flatter and shorter that normal distribution curve.
 From the above data, we can realize the huge gap between the infrastructure of various states

and the unequal facilities provided to people in these states.

Population parameter

Population Mean: The sample size is 763 after cleaning the data, which is very large. We can

assume the population mean same as the sample mean.

Population Standard Deviation:

Assumption:

 Sample size is less than 5% of population size

For such a big sample size:

Sample deviation (S) = Population deviation (σ)/ root of sample size (√ n)

Population deviation (σ) = Sample deviation (S) * root of sample size (√ n)
