Announcement: New DAAD scholarship programme “Leadership for Africa”

H.E. Dr. Samual Kifle,
I hope this mail finds you healthy and well.
The DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) would like to draw your attention
to a new scholarship program “Leadership for Africa”, for which we will open the
call for applications on August 26th, 2020.
The DAAD is the world’s largest funding organisation for the international exchange
of students and researchers. Furthermore, the DAAD supports the internationalisa-
tion of universities, assists developing countries in establishing effective higher ed-
ucation institutions and advises decision makers on matters of cultural, education
and development policy.
The special scholarship programme “Leadership for Africa” (LfA), funded by the
German Foreign Office, aims to support the academic qualification and advance-
ment of young African refugees and national scholars from selected countries as
Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda and Sudan at higher education institutions in Germany.
In times of conflicts and displacement in various African countries, the DAAD in-
tends with this programme to contribute to the education of a future elite of lead-
ers, who will be essential for the reconstruction and further development of their
home countries. Leadership for Africa offers scholarships for Master studies in
Germany to qualified applicants in all fields of study with the exception of medi-
cine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, law, the arts and architecture. Public health is
open for application in the field of medical studies.
We would be pleased if you could promote the program in your networks.
You can find more information on the website: www.daad.de/lfa.
Enclosed you will find a program overview, the call for applications and the press
release of the DAAD.
For digital and personal information, advice and guidance, the team of the DAAD
regional office in Nairobi is at your disposal. Further information can be found on
the website of the regional office: https://www.daad.or.ke/en/ and under the
