PUERTO GALERA, ORIENTAL MINDORO

Literally meaning “Port of Galleons,” which became popular to seafarers during the settlement of Spaniards and was founded by
the Augustinians in 1574.

About 130kms south of Manila , is in the north-western most part of Oriental Mindoro, Philippines.

It’s now one of the top diving destinations in the Philippines and Asia.

On December 26, 1973, PD (Presidential Decree) 354 was issued, by then President Ferdinand E. Marcos, making Puerto Galera a
reservation area under the UNESCO Man and Biosphere Program.

Last March 30, 2000, Puerto Galera was awarded exclusive and prestigious membership to the Most Beautiful Bays in the World
Club, an international non-government organization based in Vannes (France) which aims to promote, protect and develop
marine and bay sources.

Aninuan Falls
Positioned west for White Beach, nestled on the foot of Mt. Malasimbo

Aninuan Beach
Situated next to White Beach, but is much less crowded, making it suitable for a quiet and relaxing getaway.
It is a long stretch of sand with a thin layer of small cobbles in the swash zone.

Talipanan Falls
From Talipanan Mangyan Village, it’s about 30 minutes uphill and through forest to the swimmable, two-tiered falls.
Talipanan Beach
Next to Aninuan Beach, and about 2.3km away from White Beach
with few resorts and restaurant around.

Mangyan Village
Found in Sitio Talipanan, Aninuan, Puerto Galera.
Home to Iraya’s, subtribe of Mangyans which are the indigenous people of Mindoro.
Tourist can visit this village built by the Ayala Foundation where Mangyans can be seen weaving handicrafts for
souvenirs.

White Beach
The most popular of Puerto Galera’s 32 beaches, with a long beach with fine white sand.
Where you can enjoy activities such as Island Hopping, Snorkeling, Scuba Diving, Jet Skis, Banana Boats, Kayaking,
Parasailing, Sailing, Relaxing on the Beach with plenty of hotels, shops, bars and restaurants.
Approximately 10-15mins trip from town proper.
Ponderosa Golf Club
It is a 9 hole par 3 course with attitude and a compelling experience enjoyed by both serious and fun golfers alike.
Located on the side of Mt. Malasimbo, south west of Puerto Galera town behind the popular resort enclave of White
Beach.
The drive up to Ponderosa itself from the National highway is three kilometers and offers increasingly spectacular
panoramas as you climb. The trip is worth the effort all by itself, whether you play golf or not.
Approximately 20 minutes out of the town proper and spectacularly perched on a mountain side over looking Puerto
Galera 2,000 feet above sea level.

Clubhouse
Offers a selection of snacks, meals, cold drinks, alcoholic beverages and otherwise, with sunsets to die for.

Puerto Galera Mangrove Conservation
New marine protected area (MPA) and mangrove conservation site.
Measuring 22 hectares, is composed largely of a mangrove forest coupled with reefs and seagrass.

Virgin Island (Aplayang Munti/ Munting Aplaya)

Located in Barangay Dulangan, about 15mins away from the town proper of Puerto Galera.
Few meters away from Mangrove Conservation site.

Tamaraw Falls
From the word “Tamaraw” which is an indigenous water buffalo found on the island of Mindoro.
Waterfall drops 30m from a forested ravine into splash pools off the main Puerto Galera–Calapan road. Approximately
14 km or 30mins away from Puerto Galera town proper.

Tukuran Falls
A series of gentle cascades and turquoise-toned swimming holes accessed from the village of Calsapa, about 45 minutes
south of Puerto Galera. About an hour to 1.5 hrs travel time from Puerto Galera town proper, involves several river
crossings.

Tagbungan Mountain Resort & Lantuyan River

Situated in the town of Dulangan 3, Baco, Oriental Mindoro.
Tagbungan is the Mangyan term for “lagaslas ng tubig” or sound of swift flowing water.
where Lantuyan’s natural waterfall and river merges into a man-made pool. Situated at the foot of Mount
Mt. Halcon and surrounded by forests.

Infinity Farm
Located in Baco, about 2 hours away from Puerto Galera.
Tucked on the foothills of Oriental Mindoro’s Mt. Halcon is Mangangan River
A picnic place replete with well-paved boardwalks, riverside cottages, grill stations and clean restrooms
It is hidden in a thick foliage of wild plants & canopied by lush leaves from billowing trees and bamboos. Its sparkling
water riots through the huge boulders that punctuate its craggy riverbed and flows downstream—-to infinity.

Lighthouse
Located in Sinandigan, about 5-10 minutes away from Sabang.
This site gives you a stunning view of Verde Island (Isla Verde), and numerous diving area such as Canyons, Hole in the
wall, West Escarceo, Sinandigan Wall, Monkey Beach, Alma Jane, Sabang Wreck, and many more.

Dive Sites
Top dive sites are located near Sabang area, but there are shops in White Beach that can take you to these sites. The
shops are about 10 minutes away from the resort, and the dive sites are 15-30 minutes away from the shops.
