Case Overview

TechZ was founded in October 2015 in Davao City, Philippines, by a college team from
UseP, Andrea Cosgapa, Bazty Atanoso, and Kassandra Libron. They develop,
manufacture, and sell computer components and other networking relating to computer
hardware products. The company’s product line includes keyboards, headsets, and both
laptop and desktop. TechZ also offers other equipment for network management
solutions like routers and switches.

The company is the leading supplier of computer network products and services in the
Philippines. TechZ supplies and serves large organizations, which includes financial
institutions, educational institutions, and other utilities. Because of their success, they
are currently planning in enlarging the customer base to increase sales and profitability
by expanding their business into other countries, making their brand known worldwide,
and secure long-term success for their company.

The company is starting its network in Korea and expect to do sales and manufacturing
inside the country. There will be regional branches in all major towns and also
manufacturing plants and sales outlets all over the country. Their head office is located
in Seoul along with their data center. In line with these, TechZ will need to build a
reliable network to interconnect branch offices and headquarters and to implement a
large data center for the company’s IT departments that manage mix hosted
environments that thousands of customers use to interact with TechZ. This includes
Operational departments, Production, Research and development, Purchasing, Human
Resource Management, Marketing, Accounting and Finance, and supply chain
management department.
II. Network Design

A. Devices and Media

Each of the TechZ’s company location will be connected to a VPN via internet. VPN
makes it easier to add more sites and it is cheaper and secure. The employees will
have the ability to connect to the internal TechZ network remotely This makes it a great
resource for the company, in particular, allowing the employees to work from outside the
office. And by using VPN no matter where they are, their data and information stay
protected thereby they can share files over extended periods of time without having to
worry about the data being stolen or exposed. The other advantage is additional branch
offices could be added to the network easily. The Seoul Station sales outlet cannot be
directly connected to the VPN because there are no wirelessconnections or wired
connections. So a microwave link between the Seoul Station sales outlet and the
nearest sales outlet is set upped. Then the sales outlet can be connected to the VPN.
Video conferencing capabilities among the regional branches and voice calling among
the branches is established. The Global Headquarters situated in Bukchon is connected
to the local head office via a global VPN. The networking devices manufactured by
TechZ company are mostly used inside the network for routing and switching. IT
departments are located on the Head office and on the ground floor the four major
servers are in place . Which are Proxy server, File server, Web server and the
Database server.
