Letter of Recommendation

It gives me great pleasure in giving this recommendation letter to Ms. Anushka Mookherjee who is
applying for a Master’s Programme.

I was her professor at Cummins College of Engineering, Pune during her under-graduation from
2015-2019. I have closely interacted with her over the duration of her undergraduate studies. I
have taught her Heat Transfer, theory and practical and Energy Engineering, theory and practical. I
was also the guide for her Seminar, the presentation of which was part of the engineering
curriculum. She was an active participant in the lectures and discussions for both courses over two
years. She is a sincere student and enthusiastic in her coursework, co-curricular and extra-
curricular activities.

The Seminar was an individual activity, aimed at honing a student’s researching abilities. The
seminar was centred around the application of computational fluid dynamics in the human body.
The inspiration was to have a glimpse at the inter-disciplinary avenues of research in the
engineering sciences. The underlying concept was that, certain medical conditions cause changes
in fluid flow patterns in the body and if CFD is used to study these flows, it can be used to diagnose
the medical conditions with reduced stress to the body of the patient. Two case studies were
presented as a part of the seminar. The seminar was an indicator of the drive to learn about inter-
disciplinary studies and the desire to apply engineering knowledge to directly help humans in the
medical sciences. The perseverance required to conduct an extensive literature review by reading
several academic publications to identify suitable case studies and systematic approach to conduct
a thorough research was also clearly visible. Her attention to detail and meticulous approach
towards her assignments and reports was distinctive. She has the ability to drive any task given to
her to a fruitful culmination.

Her remarkable analytical thinking capacity along with a good conceptual understanding of
different topics of mechanical engineering has impressed me. Besides this what I appreciated
about her in particular, was getting along well with the fellow peers of professional teams and
other classmates as well as the faculty, teachers or supervisors.

Ms. Anushka has an inclination towards investigative research work. She has the vision for
analytical and computational subjects. Her analytical skills, hardworking nature and methodical
approach required for pursuing inter-disciplinary studies are commendable. She is a conscientious
worker. She is very modest and bears excellent moral character.
She completed her Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Mechanical Engineering in May 2019 and
secured a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 7.65 on the 10-point scale with First Class.

With these words, I strongly recommend Ms. Anushka Mookherjee for the M.Sc. programme and
the scholarship (with teaching or research assistantship) in your university providing her the
opportunity to shape her future. She is a deserving candidate for admission to the course &
receiving the scholarship. I wish her the very best for all future endeavours. I am confident that
she would prove to be a good addition to any academic/applied research at your eminent
university. If there are any questions regarding my endorsement of Ms. Anushka to your
programme, please feel free to contact me.
