Which is healthier: buffalo wings or a cheese burger?

We’ve all heard about limiting red meat intake, but in this
case, a beef burger is usually better. Both are high in fat and
calories, but the chicken loses for a few reasons. First off,
“chicken is very often fried in trans fats, like partially
hydrogenated oils, rather than healthier oils like olive and
coconut.

Unfortunately, since they are often fried in oil, coated in a

sugary glaze and then dipped in a rich sauce, wings are not
usually the most diet-friendly food. A few strategic recipe
tweaks, however, can make chicken wings a tasty and
healthful treat.

While burgers are good sources of protein, iron and vitamin

B12, they come with a lot of problems, according to nutrition
experts—particularly the fatty meat, sugary ketchup and
refined grain buns. The new survey did find that even
burger lovers know they could choose a healthier sandwich.

“Trans fat makes food last longer and improves its

mouthfeel,” but it’s also so dangerous health-wise. So if you
do decide to go for the chicken, ask what it’s fried in.

Next, there’s the batter—usually made of nutrient-and fiber-

poor white flour that can wreck blood sugar levels.

Finally, there’s what the batter is actually coating—the

chicken’s fatty, high-calorie skin.

“So even if the burger’s loaded with cheese and the bun is
made of refined flour,” “it’s still the better bet.”
