Prayer to the Gurus of the Chöd Lineage

om ah hung
Oṃ āḥ hūṃ

ས་་དིངས་ི་མ་ན་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འབས། །
chöku ying kyi yumchen la solwa deb
To the great mother of the expansive dharmakāya, I pray!

ིན་བས་མས་ལ་འག་པར་ིན་ིས་ོབས། །
jinlab sem la jukpar jingyi lob
Grant your blessings so that inspiration infuses my mind!

ལོངས་་ོ་ེ་ཕག་མོ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འབས། །
longku dorjé pakmo la solwa deb
To the saṃbhogakāya Vajravārāhī, I pray!

ལ་་མ་ག་ལབ་ོན་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འབས། །
tulku machik labdrön la solwa deb
To the nirmāṇakāya Machik Labdrön, I pray!

ཧཿ ོ་ེ་གས་ི་མཁའ་འོ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འབས། །
ha, dorjé rik kyi khandro la solwa deb
Ha, to the ḍākinīs of the vajra family, I pray!

ཿ ན་ན་གས་ི་མཁའ་འོ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འབས། །
ri, rinchen rik kyi khandro la solwa deb
Ri, to the ḍākinīs of the ratna family, I pray!

ཿ པ་གས་ི་མཁའ་འོ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འབས། །
ni, pema rik kyi khandro la solwa deb
Ni, to the ḍākinīs of the padma family, I pray!

སཿ ལས་ི་གས་ི་མཁའ་འོ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འབས། །
sa, lé kyi rik kyi khandro la solwa deb
Sa, to the ḍākinīs of the karma family, I pray!

ཿ སངས་ས་གས་ི་མཁའ་འོ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འབས། ། 1
ཿ སངས་ས་གས་ི་མཁའ་འོ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འབས། །
bam, sangye rik kyi khandro la solwa deb
Baṃ, to the ḍākinīs of the buddha family, I pray!

ཕ་ད་ཐབས་ི་བད་པ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འབས། །
pa gyü tab kyi gyüpa la solwa deb
To the lineage of the method-based father tantras, I pray!

མ་ད་ས་རབ་ི་བད་པ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འབས། །
magyü sherab kyi gyüpa la solwa deb
To the lineage of the wisdom-based mother tantras, I pray!

ས་ད་ཉམས་ོང་་བད་པ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འབས། །
sé gyü nyamnyong gi gyüpa la solwa deb
To the lineage of the experience-based son tantras, I pray!

ཟབ་མོ་གད་ི་བད་པ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འབས། །
zabmo chö kyi gyüpa la solwa deb
To the lineage of profound Chöd practice, I pray!

་འདོད་ཆགས་་ང་ག་ག་གམ། །
gyu döchak shyedang timuk sum
The causes are the three of desire, anger and ignorance—

ག་གམ་མ་ོག་ཡལ་་གསོལ། །
duk sum namtok yal du sol
May thoughts involving these three poisions fade away!

ེན་ཕོ་གདོན་མོ་གདོན་་གདོན་གམ། །
kyen po dön mo dön lu dön sum
The conditions are male spirits, female spirits and nāga-spirits—

གདོན་གམ་མ་ོག་་ར་ག །
dön sum namtok shyi gyur chik
May thoughts influenced by these three harmful spirits subside!

ས་་ལོངས་་ལ་་གམ། །
chöku longku tulku sum
Dharmakāya, saṃbhogakāya and nirmāṇakāya—

་གམ་མན་་ར་བར་ཤོག །
ku sum ngön du gyurwar shok
May I actualize these three buddha-bodies!

ི་འར་འདས་ི་ང་བ་་ཚོགས་པ། ། 2
ི་འར་འདས་ི་ང་བ་་ཚོགས་པ། །
chi khordé kyi nangwa natsokpa
Outwardly, all the various appearances of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa,

ནང་རང་མས་ོང་པ་རང་ལ་ེ། །
nang rangsem tongpé rang tsal té
And inwardly, the natural expressions of my own empty mind—

་ཐོག་མཐའ་དས་ད་ས་བང་ད། །
dé tokta ümé ngö zungmé
They all lack beginning, middle or end and are intangible.

ལ་མས་ི་གང་འན་ག་་ལ། །
yul sem kyi zungdzin shyi tsadral
The dualistic perception of objects and mind is without basis or origin.

རང་ང་་་ས་རང་གསལ་ལ། །
rangjung gi yeshe rangsal la
Within the natural self-illumination of spontaneously arising wisdom

ང་ང་དང་་དོགས་མ་མས་པས། །
panglang dang redok machipé
There is nothing to abandon or adopt, neither hope nor fear;

གས་རང་བབ་ེམ་ད་སོ་མ་ལ། །
shi rangbab nyemmé soma la
So within this fresh and natural state, which is free from pride,

གནད་གར་མཐོང་རང་ོལ་མན་ར་ཤོག །
né cher tong rangdrol ngöngyur shok
May I nakedly perceive the crucial point and realize self-liberation!

ཀཿགད་བད་འབས་ག་ིང་ལ། ། ོ་ཀ་གས་་ས་གངས། །
Situ composed this by adding two verses to an older prayer to the Katok Chöd lineage.
