Meeting held on June 19th 2017 at Hotel Krishna Palace

Managing Committee Meeting. He later invited the event host,
Vice President Vijay K. Shetty to deliver a speech to welcome

Confirmation of the minutes of the 5th MCM held on

24.04.2017.
The Honorary General Secretary (NAME) presented the minutes
of the 5th MCM held on 24.4.2017. The house approved the same.

a sanction of ` 600,000 to pay as legal fees to Advocate V. R.
Thakur for appearing and arguing on the minimum wages case

The AHAR President briefed the house that several hotels and
lodges were requesting AHAR membership. AHAR office bearers,

restaurants Rs. 5000/- per
annum.

26-40 rooms with 2

restaurants Rs. 7000/- per
annum.

41-60 rooms with 2

restaurant Rs. 9000/- per
annum.

61 rooms & above with 3

restaurants Rs. 11000/- per
annum.

In case a hotel does not have
any restaurant an amount of
Rs. 1000/- will be reduced from
the tariff.
The facility of paying the entire
fees for four years membership
will also be extended to hotels
and lodges. Such members get one
year complimentary membership,
meaning a total tenure of five years.

President Adarsh Shetty briefed
as under:
We met Maharashtra Chief
Minister Devendra Fadnavis
regarding de-notification of other
state highways to safeguard
interests of permit room owners
in the state. CM assured, necessary
steps would be taken.
The Supreme Court of India
dismissed a Special Leave Petition
filed by the Azad Hindu Union
related to the issue of food hawkers.
The Juhu-Vile Parle Kelavani
Mandal, Mumbai is also petitioner
and we are interveners in this case.
We have forwarded the judgment to
Superintendant of License and the
District Municipal Commissioner
for taking the necessary action.
Should no Action be initiated
against illegal food hawkers, we will
press contempt of court charges
against the Municipal Corporation
of Greater Mumbai (MCGM).
* We had a meeting along
with HRA [WI] regarding the GST
matters and how to represent.
* We met Finance Minister
Sudhir Maungantiwar and
presented him a memorandum. The
memorandum seeks amendments
in existing GST laws for the hotel and
restaurant industry. We discussed
this issue in detail with the minister.
AHAR has requested the minister
to review existing GST laws on the
following points:
Seeking changes in GST for hotel
industry and discussed in detail.
Our requests are:
- Increase the composition
scheme to turnover of up to Rs. 3
crores from the current GST limit of
Rs. 75 lakhs.
- Reduce the rate for air
conditioned restaurants having
liquor serving license from 18% to
12%.
- Clarification on partly/fully air
conditioned restaurants seeking
different rates of taxation.
The state Finance Minister
has already forwarded our
representation to the Union Finance
Minister, Arun Jaitley and assured
he would discuss the same in
ensuing GST Council meeting.
* Our delegation was
invited by Tourism Minister of
Maharashtra, Jaykumar Rawal
to seek AHAR’s support for the
proposed Mumbai Mela tourism
festival to be held from December
21, 2017 to January 1, 2018.
* AHAR conducted 12 Food
Safety and Standards Authority
of India related seminars for our
members. These events were held
at different venues. Attendees
were briefed about various FSSAI
regulations. Interactive sessions also
featured during these seminars.
* An AHAR delegate
attended the meeting of the
Parliamentary Committee on
Tourism.
* The Writ Petition about
minimum wages filed at the Nagpur
High Court is coming up for final
hearing. AHAR expects a favourable
verdict.
* We submitted a letter to the
Urban Development Department
for inclusion of our members in
various towns and wards vending
committees.
* Members are once again
advised to employ persons above
18 years age only at their hotels/
restaurants to avoid harassment by
the police, labor authorities and Non
Government Organizations.
* AHAR held two seminars on GST
till date. We plan to host two more
GST related seminars on June 21,
2017 at Hotel Sai Palace and June
22,2017 at Hotel Avenue, Kandivali.
Members are advised to take benefit
from these events.
* Total collection of the AHAR
Associate Associations Fund now
stands at Rs. 63.99 lakhs. Till date,
we have refunded Rs. 31,10,000. We
are waiting for details from other
banks. Once we have these bank
details, the entire amount will be
refunded.

Arvind Shetty:
We have represented our
concerns about hike in minimum
wages and food allowance in the
Minimum Wages Board for 30
percent. The (WHICH) Court has
issued an interim order for payment
of 70% wage till the final verdict.
The GST covers all the industries
and we have to adopt it since we
cannot circumvent from it. Adarsh
Shetty is leading AHAR from the
front and doing an excellent job.

Adarsh Shetty and his team. We
wish them all success in future
endeavours. We also appreciate
the move of maintaining collected
amount of the AHAR Associate
Associations Fund separately and
refunding the same, since there is
no need for legal recourse now.

* Some NGOs in
collaboration with Mumbai Police
are conducting raids for detecting
incidences of child labor. I advise
all members to be very vigilant and
shun hiring persons below 18 years
age.

Held a FSSAI seminars that was
attended by 42 members. Collected
Rs. 3,20,000/- as membership fees
during the current years while
adding seven new members.
Zone VI - Amar Shetty attended by 25 members. Also
Held a FSSAI seminar on May
28, 2017 at Hotel Bansuri Mulund
with 42 members. An issue of non-
payment of bill by a politically
connected customer at Hotel
Mamta Bar & Restaurant, Mulund
was attended. The culprit was
arrested and issue was resolved.
Total collection of membership fees
during this year was Rs. 3,66,200
and nine new members were
added.
Hookah parlours are interested in
joining AHAR and are approaching

who is insisting on the installation
of CCTV on the front side of
restaurants to prevent crime.
In a notice received by Malvan
Kalvan restaurant regarding sign
board, the hotelier is ready to file a
Writ Petition. We will provide him
the logistical support. Collected Rs.
1,86,000/as membership fees in the
current year and added three new
members.

related to Excise in the ‘P’ division
were attended and sorted out. We
also guided a hotelier in Kalina

country to employ trained and certified
Food Safety Supervisors.
According to the food regulatory body,
the initiative will help implementation of
hygiene standards in hotels and restaurants
in compliance with the Food Safety and
Standards Act, Rules and Regulations.
Additionally, it will impart required skills
to existing restaurant staff.
“This initiative aims at imparting
required knowledge for carrying out
implementation of hygiene standards in
hotels & restaurants in compliance with
the FSS Act, Rules & Regulations,” Pawan
