A. Construction Operation

1. Work shall commence on site upon approval and acceptance of the

rectification method.

2. The defect area shall be determined by the R.E. before proceeding with
the rectification of work

3. The top of wearing course (defect) with at least 40mm shall be cut off
and trimmed to the formation level, which means the top surface of the
subgrade.

4. The trimming or cut of the material shall be carried out by a roller

diamond cutter or other approved mechanical cutter in one process.

5. The haulage of material shall be carried out by a small truck.

6. The removed material shall be transported by a tripper truck to an

approved area.

7. The trimmed surfaces shall be made good by shaping and compaction as

soon as practicable after being corrected and the area to be rectify by
median filling.

8. Compaction shall be carried out using the approved type of compacters.

9. The surface of the newly surface shall be finished to the grade and line
as required by the drawing.

1. At the end of paving operation the transverse joint shall be feathered

down. Lap joint shall be provided for the next paving operation.

2. Compaction shall be carried out using the specified type of compactor

and the rolling pattern to established on the day of laying.

3. Rolling shall commence from the lower to the higher side of the
carriageway the minimum rolling temperature shall be 100 °C.

4. The surface of the asphalt shall finished to grade and line as stipulated in
the drawing. Joint survey to check the compliance.

2. The surface to receive the asphaltic concrete wearing course shall be

freed of all dirt, loose materials and standing water by sweeping.

3. Tack coat of approved bitumen emulsion shall be applied as per

specification on the prepared surface prior to laying of the asphaltic
concrete wearing course.

4. The asphaltic concrete wearing course shall be plant-mixed (Paving
Plant & Processes Continuous Drum Mixer) with bitumen content as
established in the Job Standard Mixture.

5. The approved asphaltic concrete wearing course shall be delivered to

site by tipper trucks. To prevent the loss of heat, the mixture shall be
covered by tarpaulin.

6. The asphaltic concrete wearing shall be laid by ABG Titan 311 or

equivalent in single layer.

7. If the laid surface is open-textured, backcasting shall be carried out and

the bigger size aggregate removed before rolling.

8. At the end of the paving operation, the transverse joint shall be feathered
down. Vertical joint shall be provided for the next operation of paving.

9. Compaction shall be carried out using the specified / equivalent type of

compactors and the rolling pattern shall be as per established during the
trial lay.

10. Shall always commence from the lower to the higher side of the
carriageway. The minimum rolling temperature shall be 120° C.

11. The surface of the asphaltic concrete wearing course shall be finished to
the grade and line as required by the drawings.

12. On completion of laying and compaction joint survey shall be carried

out to check for compliance with he specified requirements.

(a) Compaction shall be carried out using rollers.

(i) Tandem Roller
(ii) Pneumatic Tyre Roller

(b) The rolling pattern shall be as follows :

Breakdown Rolling : 2 passes with static mode
Intermedite : 2 passes with vibratory
