Headset Positioning
The headset of the ViScope is specifically designed to be comfortable to wear and use.
The eartubes are set at an angle to fit the anatomy of the typical ear canal.
The ear tips should be pointing forward as you insert them into your ear canal.
The tension of the spring in the headset can be reduced by holding each eartube at the
bend and gradually pulling apart until they are fully extended.
The tension of the spring in the headset can be increased by holding the headset
where the eartubes join the plastic tubing and squeezed until one eartube touches the
other. Repeat if necessary.

Turning the ViScope ON
Delivering high definition sound quality coupled with the ability to see heart and
pulmonary sounds, the ViScope represents the next generation in stethoscopes.
The ViScope displays heart sound waveforms for quick identification of various
cardiac conditions. Take a few minutes to review using this scope and become
familiar with its controls and operation.

1. Press and hold the power key for 3 seconds to turn the device ON
Note: a. Switch off all the mobile phones near the device.
b. Remain quiet during examination with the device.
c. Keep the ambient noise to the lowest level possible.

2. Place the earpiece in your ears as shown in the previous section

3. Instruct the patient to assume the necessary posture for auscultating - sitting/
supine/side-supine
4. Select the appropriate audio mode, by pressing the audio toggle button (By
default the scope is set to audio of the Bell mode)
5. The BELL, DIA or WIDE appears when that particular mode is selected for audio
6. Seat the scope properly on the patient so the chestpiece is in full contact with
patient’s chest at one of the four main auscultation positions. For more details
on the important auscultation points, refer to page 14
7. During auscultation, you will observe two waveforms on the display
7.1 Top display shows the Murmur Signal Wave (labeled “MUR”)
7.2 Bottom display shows Heart Sound waveforms (labeled as “HS”)
8. You will hear the heart sounds through the earpiece as you auscultate

Note: Minor trace of S1 & S2 appearing in “DIA” mode is normal.

Note: It is a requirement that the patient should not breathe heavily for 3-4 seconds during auscultation.

Even when the display is in the freeze mode, the audio can still be heard.

Auscultating on Different Patients

To auscultate on difference patients, clean the chestpiece diaphragm, ensure the display
is free running, select the specific modes you want to begin with and place the
ViScope on the new patient.

To adjust visual gain/amplitude

During auscultation you may change the visual gain of the heart sound displayed.

1. To increase the gain, SCROLL the 3-way key in the direction marked as “+”
symbol. The maximum gain is indicated by ten bars on the gain icon.

2. To decrease the gain, SCROLL the 3-way key in the direction marked as “-”
symbol. The minimum gain is indicated by the single bar on the gain icon.

Note: If Record/Freeze/Unfreeze key is pressed, the last

recording will be erased. Please note the following.
ViScopeMD has been validated on adult patients
only. It is not intended for use on infants or children.
This is not a diagnostic indication but that of a possible
Murmur, clinical judgment and if needed further tests
should be done for more definitive diagnosis.

6
Using the ViScopeMD (Optional)
ViScope MD, if installed on your device, will have a “MD inside”, sticker affixed
on the device itself.

To auscultate with MD, you need to take a 10 seconds record of the heart sounds.
1. Place the chest piece as you would normally, at one of the appropriate positions
to listen to heart sounds (refer to Auscultation Points on page 14)

2. Once you have a good pickup either when listening, or a visual display, press and
release the Record/Freeze/Unfreeze key.

3. Hold the device in that position till the screen changes (should be about 10
seconds) to MURMUR / NO MURMUR / PLEASE RECORD AGAIN.

4. DO NOT MOVE THE CHEST PIECE. SILENCE SHOULD BE MAINTAINED

THROUGHOUT.

5. If the recording signal is not suitable for analysis, it will state “PLEASE RECORD
AGAIN”, in which case repeat step 2.

6. Once the 10 seconds recording time is up, you can take the device off the patient’s
chest. The device will complete the analysis, which once done will display a message
on screen. If it states “MURMUR-PLEASE CONFIRM WITH CLINICAL
FINDINGS” then, the device has detected a possible anomaly; otherwise it will state
“NO MURMUR”.

7. For viewing the recorded waveforms, refer the page 8.

8. You may now transfer to the Computer / Laptop.

9. For next auscultation press Record/Freeze/unfreezekey.

To Transfer Data to a Computer

The ViScope can be connected to a computer to transfer heart sound data that can be
used for patient record keeping, reporting and analysis as well as information sharing
or use in teaching situations. Once heart sound waveforms are transferred to a computer
multiple options are all activated for analysis including caliper and zoom visualization
functionalities. The caliper makes time duration measurements of heart sound signals
while the zoom magnifies a waveform along the horizontal for closer observation of
heart sound patterns.

Before using the data transfer capability, ensure that the computer is loaded with the
ViScope software.
