Headset Positioning
The headset of the ViScope is specifically designed to be comfortable to wear and use.
The eartubes are set at an angle to fit the anatomy of the typical ear canal.
The ear tips should be pointing forward as you insert them into your ear canal.
The tension of the spring in the headset can be reduced by holding each eartube at the
bend and gradually pulling apart until they are fully extended.
The tension of the spring in the headset can be increased by holding the headset
where the eartubes join the plastic tubing and squeezed until one eartube touches the
other. Repeat if necessary.

Turning the ViScope ON
Delivering high definition sound quality coupled with the ability to see heart and
pulmonary sounds, the ViScope represents the next generation in stethoscopes.
The ViScope displays heart sound waveforms for quick identification of various
cardiac conditions. Take a few minutes to review using this scope and become
familiar with its controls and operation.
1. Press and hold the power key for 3 seconds to turn the device ON
Note: a. Switch off all the mobile phones near the device.
b. Remain quiet during examination with the device.
c. Keep the ambient noise to the lowest level possible.
Even when the display is in the freeze mode, the audio can still be heard.
1. To increase the gain, SCROLL the 3-way key in the direction marked as “+”
symbol. The maximum gain is indicated by ten bars on the gain icon.
2. To decrease the gain, SCROLL the 3-way key in the direction marked as “-”
symbol. The minimum gain is indicated by the single bar on the gain icon.
6
Using the ViScopeMD (Optional)
ViScope MD, if installed on your device, will have a “MD inside”, sticker affixed
on the device itself.
To auscultate with MD, you need to take a 10 seconds record of the heart sounds.
1. Place the chest piece as you would normally, at one of the appropriate positions
to listen to heart sounds (refer to Auscultation Points on page 14)
2. Once you have a good pickup either when listening, or a visual display, press and
release the Record/Freeze/Unfreeze key.
3. Hold the device in that position till the screen changes (should be about 10
seconds) to MURMUR / NO MURMUR / PLEASE RECORD AGAIN.
5. If the recording signal is not suitable for analysis, it will state “PLEASE RECORD
AGAIN”, in which case repeat step 2.
6. Once the 10 seconds recording time is up, you can take the device off the patient’s
chest. The device will complete the analysis, which once done will display a message
on screen. If it states “MURMUR-PLEASE CONFIRM WITH CLINICAL
FINDINGS” then, the device has detected a possible anomaly; otherwise it will state
“NO MURMUR”.
Before using the data transfer capability, ensure that the computer is loaded with the
ViScope software.
7
To Record Heart Sound Waveforms in the ViScope/PC
1. To save the acquired data press the freeze/unfreeze key and then release it when
the heart sound waveform signal that needs to be saved is displayed
2. The ViScope will respond with a screen in which the top ribbon will show
a left arrow a right arrow, a transfer icon and numbers
between the arrows as below.
3. The number appearing between the arrows indicates the waveform that will
be saved
4. Using the 3 - way key, scroll to the ‘transfer icon’ and press the 3 - way key to
transfer the waveform to the PC/Laptop

General Instructions
Battery Power Saving Features
Being an electronic stethoscope, the ViScope has multiple power saving options and
features.
1. When the scope is not in active use, you can turn the backlight off to conserve
battery power, by tapping the power key. You re-activate the back-light by
tapping the power key again
2. If the ViScope senses it hasn’t been used for 3 minutes (180 seconds), the display
backlight automatically turns off. To turn it back on tap the power key once
3. If there is no activity for 6 minutes (360 seconds) the ViScope enters into its standby
mode. To turn the scope back on tap the power button once
Recharging Batteries
1 You may operate the ViScope uninterrupted as long as the battery icon shows at
least one bar. Once the icon has no bars and starts blinking, charge the scope
2 Before charging the ViScope switch it off. Using the mini USB cable Insert the
connector into the USB slot in the ViScope and plug it into an AC power outlet.
The battery charge indicator will glow “RED”
3 The ViScope takes about 4 to 5 hours to get completely charged, which can be
observed by the “GREEN” glow of the battery charge indicator
4 Once the battery power is completely drained, the scope will turn completely off.
Should this happen, charge the ViScope as described above, and restart by
pressing and holding the power key for 3 seconds
CAUTION USE ONLY HDM SUPPLIED / AUTHORIZED BATTERY CHARGERS FOR CHARGING THE
BATTERY.
Cleaning Instruction
You may be using your ViScope on a number of different patients each day.
Cleaning the chestpiece and the body of the device is imperative since failure to do so
may cause infections or allergies to be transferred to susceptible patients.
1. Ideally the chest piece diaphragm should be cleaned after each use while the
body of the ViScope should be cleaned at the end of each day
2. Use only a soft clean cloth or alcohol wipe to clean
3. Do not immerse the ViScope in water or any other form of liquid sterilization
for cleaning
Diaphragm Replacement
9
Storage
1. Always store the device in a cool, dry place
2. It is advisable to place the device on a soft surface to avoid damage to the device
in general and to the chestpiece in particular
Accessories
USE OF ACCESSORIES NOT AUTHORISED BY HDM MAY DAMAGE THE UNIT
CAUTION
2. Earplugs (VSC060-003)
a. Use only HDM earplugs.
b. Use of non-HDM earplugs can result in pain in ears due to material
hardness and may degrade audio.
