LEARNING ACTIVITY SHEET/GAWAING PAGKATUTO

UNDERSTANDING CULTURE, SOCIETY AND POLITICS
MODULE 1

Background Information for Learners/ Panimula (Susing Konsepto)

This Learning Activity Base on the Lesson from the Module it helps the learners to understand the
following:
 The nature, goals and perspectives in/of anthropology, sociology, political science and social change.
 Anthropology studies human life, at the intersection of the sciences and the humanities. A encompasses
human biology and evolution, archaeology, culture, and language.
 Sociology is the study of groups and group interactions, societies and social interactions, from small and
personal groups to very large groups. A group of people who live in a defined geographic area, who
interact with one another and who share a common culture is what sociologists call a society.
 Political science focuses on the theory and practice of government and politics at the local, state,
national, and international levels. We are dedicated to developing understandings of institutions,
practices, and relations that constitute public life and modes of inquiry that promote citizenship.
 Social Change is the law of life, and changes in society are always taking place. Changes may be slow,
so slow that people may not even perceive them; there are times when they are so rapid and drastic. In
all spheres of life things are changing in the economic sphere, in the political fields, in the sphere of
education and so on. Social changes to a great extent are brought about through the process of education.
