and awards ceremony was held at
the Mint Bar in Opheim on Tuesday,
December 29th at 5:30 p.m. for
Opheim’s two man Special Olympics
team.
To kick the evening off, the
Special Olympics Oath was recited
by all: “Let me win. But if I cannot
win, let me be brave in the attempt!”

were on hand to hang the medals
around the necks of Steve Fauth and
and Valley County Under Sheriff Chris Richter were the
center of attention Tuesday night at Opheim’s Mint Bar.
Donnie Bailey the tow athletes won
the silver medals in doubles bowling
with a score of 385.
Steve received a gold medal in
singles bowling with a score of 174.
Donnie received a gold medal in
singles bowling with a score of 201.
Following the medals
ceremony, Virgil Nelson led the
group in prayers. Pizza made by
the Outpost Cafe, Cathy Bailey and
the Mint Bar was served along with
snacks provided by others.
“2020” was the 50th Anniversary
of Special Olympics Montana and
should have been celebrated in Great

Celebration every thing had to be
done “virtually”.
Donnie, Steve and their Coach
John Rogenes have attended 49 of
the 50 years of Special Olympics,
taking part in the softball throw, the
50 and 100 meter walk, bocce ball,
bike riding and bowling.
This year they did their bowling
at El For Del Lanes in Glasgow and
Daniels County Lanes in Scobey.
Steve also did two events, the 300
yd. walk and the stationary bike,
virtually this past summer.
Hopefully 2021 Special
Olympics Montana, will be a go in
Bozeman in May.

Central, the schedule can get a little crazy.
You know, like taking off a Monday off for one of
those rare solar eclipses that occurred — although it
turned out to be rather a dud here in northeast Montana
— but it did get dim overhead and had all the pelicans
at Fort Peck Reservoir confused and all stirred up. Then
we went and had the best pizza burgers in the entire
country —that being out there at the Park Grove Bar &
Café.
So we’re going to quarantine ourselves from New
Year’s Day to Tuesday, January 5th.
Sorry, no Buzz until Wednesday, January 6th. It’s
just one of those deals where, hey, we need a break. And
then “This Beat Goes On, Switchin’ to Glide” in 2021.
A great song by a Canadian rock band, The Kings,
it’s a classic — a great Canadian beer-drinking tune!
The 1980 release of “This Beat Goes On/Switchin’ to
Glide,” became The Kings’ breakout rock hit that stayed
on Billboard’s Hot 100 for 23 weeks, and today has more
than two million streams on Spotify while the video has
over four million views on YouTube. On October 29th
of this year, it was announced that their song was the

Johnston won 5 crowns

Mark Johnston made a big impact when he took
over the Glasgow wrestling program in the 1990s.
He coached the Scotties to five state championships,
starting in 1993. His last was in 2008 before moving to
Ronan to take the principal’s position.
Legendary Butte coach Jim Street led the Bulldogs
to 14 state championships, all in Class AA from 1980-
92 and in 1995. Another legendary coach is Jug Beck,
who led Missoula Sentinel to 12 titles. Havre Scott
Fillus coached the Blue Ponies to 12 crowns.
Street coached the Bulldogs to 13 straight titles,
while Beck had 10 consecutive wins. Street had 19
wrestlers finish in the top three places with 15 titlists,
two second and two third place grapplers. Sidney’s
Guy Melby also had 19 with eight first place winners,
seven second and four third.
Beck and Street had 14 consecutive years with a
top three place winners, while Glasgow coach Darrell
Hueth had eight straight years with a top three placer
from 1959-66. Beck also coached the most individual
state champions with 76. Melby had 58 and Johnston
28.
In dual meets, the most consecutive dual victories
has Butte with 115 from 1981-89. Sidney had 76
straight dual wins. Butte and Kalispell had 72 dual
points in 12 weight classes, Glasgow (1993) and Sidney
84 in 14 weight classes.
Kalispell had the most falls in a season with 379,
while Glasgow had 216 in 1993. Kalispell also had the
most takedowns with 1,267 in 2008.
There are 35 4-time winners with Gene Davis
of Missoula County winning four individual
championships from 1960-63 in the 95, 103, 122 and
133 weight classes. Glasgow’s Luke Zeiger won in the
112, 130, 135 and 140 weight classes from 2009-12.
Montana has seen several brothers win more than
two state crowns. Forsyth had the Weber brothers;
Luke (2013-16), Matt (2012-15), and Michael (2016-
19) all won four titles each. Great Falls High had the
Zadick’s, Bill (1988-91) and Mike (1994-97), and
Colstrip the Currier’s, Clayton (2014-17) and Jackson
(2016-19). Brandon Weber started it all as a 3-time
winner from 2012-14. Gage Currier won three from
2012-14.
There are also 51 3-time winners with Terry Foust
winning from 1956-58 for Sentinel. Glasgow has two
grapplers that have won three individual titles. Craig
Hallock won from 1970-72 in the 98, 105 and 112
weight classes. Nathan Hopstad did it from 2002-04
in the 125, 135 and 145 classes.
The Weber’s left their mark in the record books
with most career wins. Luke had 212 and Brandon
with 216. Zeiger had 175 wins, Myles Kittleson 168
from 2006-09, and Brady Flaten 154 from 1994-97.
Jade Rauser of Townsend had 175 straight wins from
2008-11, Ben Stroh of Chinook 147 from 2009-12,
and Zeiger 93. Luke Weber had 57 wins in the 2014
season.
There have been three 4-time winners that went
undefeated with Rauser, Beau Malia of Billings Skyview
from 2001-04, and Davis. Hopstad went undefeated as
a 3-time winner.
Josh Perago of Laurel has the most points scored
in a career with 734 from 1990-93. Luke Weber had
the most falls with 174 with 50 coming in 2015-16,
Stroh had 142, and Zeiger 136. Stroh had 101 straight
falls and Glasgow’s Chance Rauscher 31 from 2008-09.
There are two wrestlers that have the quickest fall of
:04 seconds. Fergus grappler Jeff Stewart did it in the
unlimited weight class and Baker’s Caron Beach did it
in the heavyweight class.
The coach with the most dual victories is Jeff Nagel
of Corvallis with338 (338-141) 1993-2005. Guy Melby
of Sidney had 302 (302-130), and do you remember
Lairs Roberts of Huntley Project? He coached the Red
Devils to 202 dual win with 15 losses.
*It has the last update on the records being in 2020,
however I do not believe that is correct. I am going on
what is listed on the MHSA website at the time. This
wraps up the wrestling records. Next I’ll look at the
state placers from Glasgow.

The part about the RV belonging to Warner being
parked in front of the AT&T building was true but
because of Warner’s father having worked for AT&T
once the conspiracy theory nuts have come out of their
shells.
The building housing equipment that controls most
of Nashville and the surrounding area’s cell activity,
internet and air traffic towers is correct. It is....was....a very
sensitive tech facility. But that still doesn’t prove this was
a terrorist act aimed at the Dominion Voting Machines.
About that: The Jay Herbert Facebook meme stated
that “AT&T got a contract to do forensic audit on some of
Dominion’s Voting Machines.”
He went on to say that the “machines were delivered
to the AT&T building in Nashville. (Not the multi-storied
iconic “Bat Building” downtown with the two attenae.
Also owned by AT&T)
According to Check your Fact, the AFP, FactCheck.
org, Lead Stories, Politifact, Science Feedback and the USA
Today, as well as other fact checkers both those statements
are false. No Audit...No machines transferred. Dominion
and AT&T both denied Herbert’s claims.
In an effort to dis-credit Joe Biden (a man who
can discredit himself almost daily) the Herbert false
news reported it was Joe Biden’s brother-in-law “Steven
Owens” who co-founded Staple Street Executives when
in fact it was Stephen Owens who did and Biden’s Sister
Valeria married a man named Jack Owens. So Herbert’s
claim on that is pure Double D BS.
But the fact does remain that the Biden name pops
up almost daily in connections with some nefarious
activities or another.
Herbert claimed that William Kennard, previous
owner of the building at 166 second ave N was also a Board
Member of Cerberus Capital Management and on the
Board at AT&T. I searched the Board of Cerberus and didn’t
see Kennard’s name anywhere. False statement! His name
did pop up as Clinton’s FCC Chairman for four years.
And one version of the story that Nancy Pelosi or
her husband owns the software for Dominion is false.
That was posted by the same fellow who posted the Jay
Herbert post I think.
I really don’t see what advantage Herbert created by
posting this thing. People are gullible and we conservatives
would like to have something positive come out of this
flawed election but telling outright lies about things like
this Santa-Bombing in Tennessee is just wrong!
The International Factchecking Network along
with Factchecking network@poynter.org has banded
together with the fact checkers I mentioned earlier as
well as several other fact checking organizations and
will be giving their findings on this one (Herbert) and
many more memes, false news things to Telemundo and
Univision who will, in turn give the real news to their
affiliates.
I’m sorry I mis-led you with the first story but I felt
you needed to be aware of the false news being put out on
Facebook, Instagram and the other sites.
Now, folks, I’m not saying I’ll always be right either.
I rely on what I feel are ‘reliable’ sources that aren’t always
reliable. But I will dig until I find what is the truth and
pass it along to you.
