FACTORS AFFECTING PINOY POP CULTURE

GLOBALIZATION

a. Define and/or explain what the FACTOR is all about. At least have

Globalization is the word used to describe the growing

interdependence of the world’s economies, cultures, and populations, brought
about by cross-border trade in goods and services, technology, and flows of
investment, people, and information. Countries have built economic
partnerships to facilitate these movements over many centuries.

Globalization is a term used to describe how trade and technology have

made the world into a more connected and interdependent place.
Globalization also captures in its scope the economic and social changes that
have come about as a result.

Globalization is the process by which ideas, goods and services spread

throughout the world. In business, the term is often used in an economic
context to describe an integrated economy marked by free trade, the free flow
of capital and corporate use of foreign labor markets to maximize returns and
benefit the common good.

According to WHO, globalization can be defined as” the increased

interconnectedness and interdependence of peoples and countries. It is
generally understood to include two inter-related elements: the opening of
international borders to increasingly fast flows of goods, services, finance,
people and ideas; and the changes in institutions and policies at national and
international levels that facilitate or promote such flows.”

According to the Committee for Development Policy (a subsidiary body

of the United Nations), from an economic point of view, globalization can be
defined as:

 the increasing interdependence of world economies as a result of the

growing scale of cross-border trade of commodities and services, the
flow of international capital and the wide and rapid spread of
technologies. It reflects the continuing expansion and mutual
integration of market frontiers
 the rapid growing significance of information in all types of productive
activities and marketization are the two major driving forces for
economic globalization.

b. Explain how the said factors affect Pinoy Pop Culture.

Globalization enables companies to distribute cultural products

like music, films, art, literature, dance, fashion and many more. The
spread of Pinoy Restaurant chains and consumer products worldwide is
accompanied by spread of Pinoy Pop Culture. In recent years, Pinoy
movies, music and TV shows have consistently gained more and more
audiences worldwide. Almost by definition, pop culture has attained an
immense global following precisely because it is popular.
 c. Finally, what is your take-away or lesson learned from what you
have discussed.

In this activity, I have learned a lot about globalization and how it

can affect Pinoy Pop Culture. Globalization is the process by which
ideas, goods and services spread throughout the world. Globalization
enhances our ability to acquire and utilize knowledge. Globalization
enhances the ability of learners to access, assess, adopt, and apply
knowledge, to think independently to exercise appropriate judgment
and to collaborate with others to make sense of new situations
Globalization is very important because through this, people become
more and more connected. We can easily communicate other people all
over the world. Also, through globalization, it can promote the culture of
our country which is the Philippines.
