Process Area Capabilities

Blast Furnace 1. Blast furnace heat and material balance can be done. Work related to
CFD and Aspen Plus integrations for large Gratifier Reactor (RIL)
explained by Aspen plus Personnel.
2. Factsage data base is compatible with Aspen Plus and can be used.
Gas Cleaning Plant 1. Cyclone Separator Module is available in Aspen Plus.
2. Gas Cleaning Plant / Annular Gap Scrubber – Aspen Plus Personnel (NC)
suggested to use “Ventury Scrubber” Model.
Coal Drying & Pneumatic 1. Solid Coal can be specified and Coal Dryer and Pulveriser can be
Conveying simulated.
2. Dense phase and dilute phase conveying system line sizing and pressure
drop calculation can be done. Flow elements e.g., bends, valves etc. can
be included by appropriate ‘L/D’ or ‘K’ factor.
3. Flow distribution in manifold cannot be simulated.
Regenerative Heat 1. Can be done. Model explained by our team member. Modelling
Transfer philosophy is accepted by Aspen Plus Personnel (NC).
2. Aspen Plus Personnel (NC) also suggested calculator block with
sensitivity block can be a workaround for making regenerative dynamic
happen without dynamic tool.
Utilities 1. Utilities e.g., Instrument air, Cooling Water; Process Water etc. system
can be simulated.
