Pipeline/Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems (PIDS) are systems used in an external environment
to detect the presence of an intruder attempting to breach a perimeter. A single PIDS instrument can
cover 40 to 50km, and multiple instruments can be networked together to extend the detection range
to hundreds or even thousands of kilometres of pipelines monitored from a single location. It is also
possible to remotely monitor the system via the internet.
