ACTIVITY:

Poverty is either relative or absolute term. In absolute poverty it measures the required
financial to meet the basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter which the concept failed to
recognize that the individuals have important social and cultural needs while relative poverty, it
links to economic status of other members of the society where deprived people are fall below
the prevailing standards of living in a certain social context (United Nations Educational
Scientific and Cultural Organization, 2015). The concept of poverty is multifaceted including the
social, economic and political elements that can influence in overall health and wellness.
In view of that, poverty and inequality in the Philippines remains a big challenge for the
government to solve it for certain population who lives below the national poverty line. Indeed, it
is a serious crisis that needs to be addressed the soonest possible time in order to curtail its
impact. It takes a great toll not only on the members of the poor communities or households but
to the country in its entirety.
The Philippines, including its government and the agencies under it have to undertake
major developments to fight poverty. In the hopes of alleviating its detrimental effects to the
country and its people, the national government came up with a measure to address these issues
and the program is known as the “Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program” or 4Ps (MCC, 2009).
World Bank (2012) discussed the 4Ps has become the cornerstone of the governments social
protection effort since it was launched in 2008. The conditional cash transfer program has been
an important part of a renewed effort to address the chronic poverty and meet the Millennium
Development Goals MDGs in terms of eradicate extreme poverty and hunger; achieve universal
primary education; promote gender equality; reduce child mortality; and improve maternal
health.

D. Discuss the scope and limitation

This study will determine the level of knowledge and practices of communities under
poverty line in Luzon. This research study involves communities under poverty line from
different communities within Luzon area where there is highest incidence of poverty. The
respondents of the study who are classified as living in the community area and experiences
poverty, randomly selected disregarding the gender, are the focus of the study. Respondents are
limited at 1 respondent per family in the community to avoid repetition of answers and to ensure
accuracy. The study would be done through the utilization of questionnaire to be given to the
selected respondent as a survey and
reference. By their strategy the researchers will be able to know the level of knowledge and
practices of communities under poverty line in Luzon.

E. Define 2 terms either operationally or conceptually

Poverty. Refers to a state or condition in which a person or community lacks the financial
resources and essentials for a minimum standard of living (Chen, 2020).
Level of Knowledge. On the other hand, refers to the degree of understanding of the

communities under poverty line regarding hunger, illness, safety, and poverty in the Philippines.

F. Discuss the population and sampling

The target populations for this study will respondents who are classified as living in the

community area and experiences poverty, randomly selected disregarding the gender.

Respondents are limited at 1 respondent per family in the community to avoid repetition of

answers and to ensure accuracy.
