 Assignements  6-‐11-‐2017

1   The  given  bass  here  below  includes  all    the  topics  we  spoke  about.  Try  to  harmonize
for  four  voices  and  include  all  the  mentioned  harmonic  features.  Include  in  the
innervoices  and  in  the  soprano  the  same  rhtytmic  patrons  as  in  the  bass  voice.  (tip:
each  time  try  to  find  smooth  embellishment  in  one  of  the  voices  and  not  in  all  the
voices  at  the  same  time.  A  nice  dialogue  and  imitating  movement  will  be  the  result.
The  3rd  line  is  the  Fundamental  Bass  to  indicate  the  roots  of  the  chords.  Please  add
also  the  functional  numerals  including  the  inversions.

Features:
•   Secondary  dominant  (e.g.bar  2)
•   Chaining  connections  of  sec  dominants  (e.g.  bar  3)
•   Alterated  secondary  dominant  (e.g.  bar  5,  chords  like  german  or  french  harmony)
•   Deceptive  cadence  (e.g.  bar  6)
•   Moll-‐dur  (e.g.  bar  7)
•   Try  to  find  more  of  the  mentioned  technics  in  the  rest  of  the  excersize.

2      Based  on    the  lecture  about  ‘the  Liebestraum’  we  ‘ll  try  to  use    a    similar  ‘concept’  in  order
to  create    a  new    piece.
This  piece  should  include  two  basic  ideas:
•   Make  a  chain  of  secondary  dominants  with  chromatic  voice  leadings
•   Find  modulations  based  using  IV-‐md  (moll  dur)  as  pivotchord.
