CHAPTER THREE

METHODOLOGY

A. Materials

The materials needed in the production of Lansium Domesticum (Lanzones) as Mosquito

Coil are corn-starch, coil moulder, sundried lanzones peelings, mortar and pestle, container, and

15ml of water.

B. Methods

In making “Lansium Domesticum (Lanzones) as Mosquito Coil” the cuts lanzones

peelings were dried for 3-5 days until fully dried. These were pulverized using mortar and pestle.

The powder was mixed with corn-starch, after mixing thoroughly was added. Mix the mixture

very well until it turns sticky. The mixture was poured in a moulder to shape it like a coil. This

was dried under the heat of the sun for twenty-four to forty-eight hours.

C. Experimental Set-Up

Two-set-up were constructed, one for the Lanzones repellent and the other for the

commercially available mosquito repellent coils. Each set-ups were smoked for 30 minutes by

their respective repellent.

D. Data Gathering Procedures

There were 3 trials for each repellent and the results of the Lanzones repellent were

37,38,33 respectively. This study revealed that the effect of Lanzones peel as repellent is

comparable to commercially available "katol" which is considered the most popular and widely

used insecticide vaporizers. Compared with the results of commercially available "katol" of

36,30,35.
