The company came into existence on 1st December 1981 as a private limited company later
on it was converted into public limited company on 09 July 1987.The company was listed
in Karachi and Lahore stock exchange. Power cement limited mainly focuses on
producing, selling and marketing of major cement products. Its major shareholders
include arif habib group which holds most of the shares of the company.it ranks among the
emerging financial company in the country and is strongly growing.[ CITATION pow81 \l

The company has stablished itself as a major company in the cement industry of Pakistan.
The company’s success because of years of establishing a better relation with its clients and
first rate service to its clients and because of team effort of its board of directors, team
management and hardworking and talented employees. The company has built its
reputation as the major business in the country and as one of the leading businesses in
Pakistan[ CITATION pow81 \l 1033 ]
COVID-19 LOCKDOWN:
The lockdown due to corona virus pandemic was implemented in Pakistan on 31st march
2020 due to which industry had to shut down for the time. Due to which companies and
their human resource managers had to plan and implement their strategies accordingly.
[ CITATION THE20 \l 1033 ] The HR mangers had to make policies for their companies for
during and post lockdown situation in the industries. Companies would also be facing
difficult financial situation in these times and thus the HR managers also had to prepare
policies keeping in mind the financial conditions for their respective companies. Due to
lockdown demand in the cement industry is likely to decline 45-50% year-on-year in
first quarter of the financial year 2020-21.[ CITATION THE20 \l 1033 ]
Here are some of policies which can be implemented as an HR manager of power cement
limited:
POLICES FOR WORKPLACE:
The idea is to ensure that social distancing norms and hygiene considerations on account of
Corona virus pandemic are strictly followed in every workplace when it resumes
functioning, whether in a limited or full-fledged manner. However the workplace will
never be same post lockdown
CLEANING PLAN:
As a hr. manager proper cleaning plan should be prepared for disinfecting the work place.
Disinfecting sprays should be sprayed around the workplace in everyday manner
disinfecting machines should be installed at the workplace. Disinfecting sprays should
sprayed regularly before and after work. Sanitizers should be installed at every workplace.
OPEN SPACES:
Workplaces should be rearranged and reorganized in such a manner that minimum
distance or at least the 3m distance should be maintain between employees. The more the
open spaces the less there is chance for infecting the employees.
BY WAVING OF SALARIES:
Employees that can work remotely from their homes should work from home as possible
because of the situation of pandemic. As they are not coming to work physically we can
way their salary by 25 percent other than that some specific tasks and or targeted work
should be assigned to these employees from which they can receive their 25 percent salary
and even some extra bonus for their work making them more productive and increasing
the overall productivity.
Power cement limited human resource department would have to provide proper
equipment to their employees. Surgical mask should be provided to every employ and it
should be supervised that they wear the mask at work. Hand sanitizers should be made
cacheable or proper hand washing materials should be provided to the working labor and
staff. Sanitizing machines should be set at the entry gates of workplace for employees
PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION:
To avoid public transportation employees should be provided transportation by power
cement limited. Coaches would be provided to the employees and so that labor can come to
work who use public transportation.
IT DEPARTMENT:
The information system department at should be assigned a task by the human resource
department in making sure there is clean exchange of information for the firm. For this a
software can be made or the use of modern apps can be used so that right information can
be transferred between employees.
