CHARACTER TRAITS OF THE FILIPINOS

1. TAGLISH SPEAKING PEOPLE

This character traits of Filipino are mostly happen in a classroom. when students are answering questions they use the
combination of tagalog and English because it is more comfortable for them in answering.

2. CLOSE FAMILY TIES

Filipinos are said to value and take good care of their family. Although there are times when family ties are so strong
that they lead to conflicts between other families, these conflicts also paradoxically represent the closeness of Filipino
family members. it is very evident in the Philippines that close-knit families demonstrate their deep love for each
member, such as spouse, children, parents, siblings, grandparents and other relatives. Ones family is the source of
personal identity, emotional and material support, and ones main commitment and responsibility. Genuine concern for
the family is manifested in the honor and respect given to parents and elders, in the support and care extended to
children and in the great sacrifices one endures for the welfare of the family. It is ordinary for Filipinos to take care of
their aging parents at home. This family orientation makes every member develop a feeling of belongingness and sense
of safety and security.

3. HIGH RESPECT TO ELDERS

Filipinos show the utmost respect for the elderly, and the elderly are shown great consideration and care. This is based
on the deep love felt towards the elderly. It is natural to care for the elderly, and in their own home. This is an act of
paying respect to the elderly. Respect for the elderly is an essential condition in caring for the elderly. The fact that this
tendency is strong in the Philippines is enough to see that Filipinos have a high respect to elders.

4. FATALISM

An attitude of "what goes around, comes around" or "come what may." We have a tendency to surrender our future to
fate. We often accept bad news or circumstances without trying to stop or change them. This can sometimes be helpful
in adversity, but it can also keep us from finding ways out of situations. Also, constantly expecting the worst can get
pretty depressing.

5. HOSPITALITY

Filipino hospitality is a trait that refers to the warm welcome that the Filipino gives to visitors who come to his or her
home, especially strangers and foreigners. Filipinos are friendly people by nature, especially to foreigners and they offer
great hospitality to visitors. This kindness of the Filipinos is one reason they are loved by tourists. It is easy to imagine
that this hospitality will be exhibited not only when foreigners come to the Philippines, but also when Filipinos go to
foreign countries to work as social supporters and caregivers. This is another aspect which shows that Filipinos have a
vocation for social support.

6. CRAB MENTALITY

Filipinos tend to possess this mentality especially when they feel insecure. In a way, crab mentality also promotes an
unhealthy competition.

Instead of doing things that could help one to develop and become better than his competitors, Filipinos devote so
much of their time gossiping and back-biting. It is their way of deviating people’s attention on their inadequacy by
focusing on other people’s faults.
7. INTENSE LOVE FOR EDUCATION

Filipinos have deep regard for education. most Filipino parents always put in the minds of their children on the onset of
attending the school that they need to study hard and do their best in their studies so they will land on good job. I
believed that without education life wil become aimless and though. that’s why we filiinos understand the value of
education and its involvement in our daily life.

8. PALAKASAN SYSTEM/PADRINO SYSTEM

Padrino/Palakasan System, or patronage in the Filipino culture and politics is the value system where one gains favor,
promotion, or political appointment through family affiliation or friendship, as opposed to one's merit. In the Philippines
for decades, "Palakasan System" was the most notorious rotten dirty system. This is common sense, but no one can ruin
it, and people practicing this infamous system were too far to liberate the fame and wealth they had experienced, so no
one needs to tear it apart there is no. . I have a selfish desire and it does not give me the reason for disliking this bad fate
system, but even if you look around the environment just as we do, See unhappy people When you sleep at night you
wake up on a hungry, hungry morning, there is nothing to help you, your heart will collapse and melt
