General Purpose: To inform
Central Idea : The impacts of cybercrime to the communities.

INTRODUCTION

I. Topic: Cyber Crime. It is A Serious Thing?

II. Credibility: I am interested in this topic because people nowadays are still unaware
about cybercrime that can give many impacts to the communities and nation.
III. Background of the topic: Cybercrimes involving losses of RM67.6 million in 2,207
cases were reported in the first three months of this year, according to a senior officer
of the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (KKMM) today.
IV. Central idea: The impacts of cybercrime to the communities.

BODY

I. Main Idea 1: Cybercrime history

A. Elaboration
Cybercrime started off as a way for hackers to break into computer networks
either for fun or to access classified information.

This led to the spread of computer viruses that were able to cripple
computers while also stealing all of the information off them
2. Supporting detail
Generally, in 2018 the most reported incident is Online Fraud with a total
of 5123 incidents coming from organizations, home users, private sectors,
industries as well as from foreign entities.

II. Main Idea 2: The impacts of cybercrime to children
A. Elaboration
According to a study done by the Finnish Youth Research Society, research
shows that young people that are heavily involved with technology, such as
video games and social media communities and networking are likely to
become victims.
1. Supporting details
In cases of sexual predators, often the children are manipulated into
sending illicit pictures, and then threatened if they do not send more. This
can go on for years.
2. Supporting details
Cyberbullying, can be punishable by law if the bully threatens the victim
in a way that causes fear of injury or death or when the bully purposely
gains access to personal information in order to harass him or her
further.

III. Main Idea 3: The impacts of cybercrime to adults

A. Elaboration
Phishing where computers, phones and tablets get hacked and your personal
information becomes available.

1. Supporting details
This includes banking information, credit and debit accounts, and personal
identity.
2. Supporting details
Mostly through emails and easy access due to lack of protection software
and also through public wifi networks.

CONCLUSION

I. Summary
Internet is a powerful item that can be used for good or bad purpose. Internet users
should be responsible and think before doing something especially when involving
online network.
II. Recommendation
 Do not talk to strangers by do not give out your personal information, including
but not limited to, your social security number, address, birthday, and credit
card information, to sites you are not familiar with.
 Choose strong passwords and do not share them.
 Download security software on your computer.
