    Gender discrimination takes many forms such as sexual discrimination, toxic masculinity, and restricting people's capabilities based on their gender. People encounter discrimination in workplaces, schools, public spaces, and even at home. Laws have been implemented to address discrimination, such as the Equal Credit Opportunity Act which prohibits gender-based credit discrimination, and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which prohibits employment discrimination based on gender. However, discrimination still occurs, which is why the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Expression Equality Bill (SOGIE Bill) was introduced to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity expression for all people.

    Gender Discrimination

    : discrimination against LGBTQIA+ has been circulating around the Philippines for decades already.

    : And not just this community is experiencing discrimination even those people who are not part of it is
    experiencing this type of unfairness and judgement.

    : have your experienced belittling your capabilities as a woman? How about someone insulting you just
    because of your gender decision? Or letting the people around you decide what your personality should
    be, how you should act as a person, just because you were born as male or as a female? Here are some
    examples of gender discrimination going on around the world.

    : Discrimination in gender is act of civil rights violation as a human that takes in any form such as sexual
    discrimination, toxic masculinity and restriction to anyone’s capabilities and skills.

    : Isn't it sad that some will hate you just because you're gay? Isn't it a pity how some people ask you "are
    you gay?" just because you're not fitted to their definition of 'masculinity'? Isn't it unfair being restricted
    to wear something because of the mindset that wearing revealing clothes is a form of an invitation?

    : You may encounter this in your workplace, persons around you, school and at your own home. Even
    bathroom's an issue.

    : And for the same reason, the upper ups are doing some things to solve and fix the toxic mentality.

    : this is by implementing laws such as the “equal credit opportunity” or the act that prohibits the
    discrimination of credit to any basis of gender. “Civil Rights Act of 1964: Title VII” or the act that
    prohibits the employment of any basis of gender. And the most recent controversial bill in our country
    known as the “Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Expression Equality Bill" or the "SOGIE Bill" for
    short.

    : others say that the sogie bill is just for the LGBTQAI+ community but this law is for everyone who is
    discriminated. The sogie bill or the Anti-discrimination ordinance “House Bill 09095” filled by the anak-
    bayan representative “Etta Rosales”. According to Ms. Rosales “this ordinance supports and sought
    proscribe base on sexual orientation and legal protection against discrimination. SOGIE means Sexual
    Orientation and Gender Identity Expression and this is not just for LGBT people because everyone has a
    sogie and anyone will benefit to this.
