22. CEILING MOUNTED SUPPORT

22(i) . MATERIAL:
(i). IS: 2062 (Grade B)
Ultimate Tensile Stress – 410 MPa
Yield Stress (y K f) – 240 MPa
Youngs Modulus – 210 GPa
Permissible bending Stress = 144 MPa [IS 800: 2007]
Permissible Shear Stress = 94 MPa [IS 800: 2007]
Permissible Axial Stress = 141 MPa [IS 800: 2007] (TENSILE/COMPRESSIVE)
All the Geometrical properties of Strut Channels will be with reference to OBO Betterman
Catalogue

22 (ii). DESIGN CRITERIA:

(i). The Steel - structures will get fixed to the building structures with mechanical anchors and
Insert Plate with Lugs.

(ii). The design is performed for critical seismic region, Zone IV of the Seismic Zoning Map of
India.

(iii). The Structure will get calculated with the forces that will occur due to Dead Load, Live
Loads such as Cable pulling Load.

22 (iii). Dead Load:

CABLE DIMENSIONS:
Total weight 90 Kg/m or 0.9 Kn/m

22 (iv). Cable Installation Load:

Human weight = 1KN
Total Load = 2.5 KN

22 (v). Seismic Loading:

As per IS: 1893
Damping in all directions = 0.5g
Earthquake zone (CRITICAL ZONE 4), Z = 0.24
Importance factor = 1.5
Response Reduction Factor =5
Fundamental Natural Period = 0.1, Frequency = 10 c/s
ANDRITZ HYDRO DESIGN OF CABLE SUPPORTING SYSTEMS LIMC PVT LTD

Average Response Acceleration Coefficient (Sa/g) = 2.5

Design Spectrum (Ah) = (Z/2) X (I/R) X (Sa/g) = 0.09

22(vi). Load summary:

Load Combinations:
Possible Load cases:
Dead Load (DL) / Cable Installation (CI) / Short Circuit (SC) / Seismic Loads
(SL)
Combination I:
1.00 x DL + 1.00 x CI ≤ y K f , = 240 N/mm² / γM = 1.10 = 218 N/mm²
Combination II:
1.00 x DL + 1.00 x SL ≤ y K f , = 240 N/mm² / γM = 1.10 = 218 N/mm²

Where γM partial Safety Factor
