MAGNETS:
An object that can attract an iron is called as
magnet. Magnets can be natural or artificial.

Natural magnets :
Natural magnets are found in many parts of
the world. A natural magnet looks like a dark
coloured rock . It is called as magnetite.
Artificial Magnets:
Artificial magnets are made of hard
steel. Alnico magnets are the most
powerful artificial magnets made of
aluminium , nickel, and cobalt mixed
with steel.
Shapes of magnets:
There are different shapes of magnets .
They can be rectangular, cylindrical ,
horseshoe- shaped, U- shaped or round.

Magnetic Force:
The force which holds objects to a
magnet is called magnetic force.
Magnetic material:
The materials which get attracted towards a
magnet are magnetic materials. For example,
iron, nickel or cobalt.
Non-magnetic materials:
The materials which are not attracted towards
a magnet are non-magnetic materials .
Examples of non magnetic materials include
rubber , leather, wood etc.
