What Is Rural Sourcing?

NewBold Technologies (NBT) creates “IT Production Centers” in rural communities to provide high
quality application support services at costs that are comparable to off-shore options.
• We leverage low-cost facilities. There are hundreds of rural
communities that once supported populations of 20 to 30
thousand people, that now have dozens of vacant
commercial properties. We cost effectively acquire those
properties and remodel them to provide workspace for
hundreds of IT people at a fraction of the cost for
comparable facilities in metropolitan areas. These
remodeled facilities not only house our NewBold Technology
Teams but also our technology training partner, NewLife
Technical Institute.
• We reduce distance with technology. We install state-of-the-
art infrastructures and communication technologies in our
Production Centers. These technologies make the miles
disappear as we work together, but maintain the similarities
NewBold Technologies’ IT Production
in culture, language and time zone that simplify
Center in East Liverpool, OH
communication and increase the likelihood of knowledge
transfer and project success.

• We ensure an effective talent pool. The most important piece of

the model is an ongoing process that identifies talented area
individuals with technical aptitude and provides them with cutting
edge, college-level technical training and experience as
apprentices. We combine these eager junior resources with
experienced professionals in intermediate, senior and lead roles.
This combination results in highly motivated, quality oriented
teams at lower cost while our management resources thrive on
getting jobs done on time, on scope and under budget.
• To sum it up – NewBold Technologies Rural Sourcing Program provides all the advantages of off-
shoring with additional benefits: cost-effective, skilled resources, PLUS simplified project
management and communication, reduced overhead and travel expenses, Intellectual Property
Protection, AND it helps revitalize U.S. rural communities economically while providing renewed
hope for area residents.
Does Rural Sourcing Work?

NewBold Technologies has proven itself in the IT Marketplace.

• We have proven that our model works. NewBold Tech has served as a
“launchpad” for more than 30 individuals who were new to the field to
have careers in Information Technology, and with our low attrition rate
many are still with us.
• We have been the technology vendor used by more than 30 companies,
organizations and agencies to create their market presence and e-
commerce businesses on the web.
• We have been selected by four different companies to provided the
technology “know how” and development efforts behind the launch of
their software related products.
• We have served in consulting capacities traditionally reserved for “Big
Name” consulting firms to provide technical expertise to help companies
gain efficiencies by streamlining and automating their internal processes.
• Through our Infrastructure Support Service Group, we have contracted
with more than 20 local organizations to install and maintain their
computers, peripherals, and networks.

NewBold Technologies is positioning for the future.

• Our ability to manage and maintain our low cost structure means
focusing on technology and technologists. We do very little direct
sales. We rely on our partnerships to market and sell our services
along with theirs.
• We have mastered the ability to create technology boot-camps
followed by apprenticeship and mentoring programs to quickly
ramp up teams ready to perform in any technology environment.
• Because partnerships will be such a significant part of our strategy
going forward, NewBold has acquired certifications to work
effectively with state and federal agencies as an approved vendor:
o MBE Partner Certification
o State Term Rate Schedule for Ohio
o Federal GSA Schedule
Our Strategy for Growth

Our Partnership Program

• What kinds of partners are we looking for? NewBold Technologies is looking for a few good
partners who share our commitment to quality application support services and want to leverage
our story of revitalizing communities.
o We strongly value marketing and sales, but we realize that those are not areas of strength
for us. That is also NOT where we want to invest our resources, so we look for partners
who have a client base and the ability to reach out with our story.
o We have found that our current partners have a distinct advantage with clients who have
struggled with off-shoring and want a better solution in the U.S.
• What do we offer our partners? Our partners benefit from our low cost structure and high quality
services, as well as our unique business model.
o We can provide inexpensive office space for your team members as we work jointly on
projects or if you need temporary or long term facilities for your clients. Our infrastructure
team can support a variety of environments and server configurations.
o We are also able to provide exclusive relationships in a metropolitan area and/or
application service area based on commitment.
Our Lines of Business

NewBold Technologies (NBT) creates “IT Production Centers” in rural communities to provide high
quality application support services at a cost that is comparable to off-shore options.

OEM .NET Practice

An OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) manufactures products or components that are
purchased by another company and retailed under that purchasing company's brand name. Our
.NET developers can quickly and cost effectively build applications that you can present to your
client companies with confidence.
We implement all the latest Microsoft tools and standards, and our developers have significant
experience in a variety of diverse application verticals. We can work with you to leverage your
company’s strengths and maintain your relationship with the customer. If you know your
requirements and want to deliver an on the mark .NET solution, let us be the “manufacturer”
behind your brand.

“Build to Suit” Development Teams

Because we place an effective training facility and resource acquisition processes together in our IT
Production Center sites, we can build custom teams for you or your clients that focus on a specific
technology stack or application. We can provide a team that will maintain older applications, or
create and support your product line, all we need is realistic ramp up times (3 – 6 months) and
appropriate commitment terms (2 years or more).
Project teams of mixed resources can be assembled at attractive blended rates. Blended rates can
range between $30 and $70 per hour and homogeneous junior teams can range between $20 and
$30 per hour.

Application Support Services

Our “raw materials” and our “Job Prep” Processes make us a natural fit for a variety of application
support services. We can assemble testing teams that will take costly manual testing cycles out of
your development efforts, or provide complete Quality Assurance processes.
We can also provide the infrastructure and personnel necessary to supply tier 1,2, and 3 helpdesk
services. Our staff can provide support for a wide range of products or learn your specific
application needs to support legacy or newly deployed environments and your user community.

“Build to Suit” Team Case Study: Customer – German e-Business Firm

Need : The company needed to establish a U.S. based team of developers skilled in their
proprietary development suite to provide a flexible, cost effective maintenance and
enhancement alternative for its customers to ensure that their customers benefited
from personal contact in all regions.
Solution: NewBold Technologies offered a customized solution by supplying a team of
individuals that were trained in specific topics and skills. The training was two –fold.
The first came through NewLife Technical Institute on topics involving the relevant
toolsets in Java and open source. The second training was provided by the Partner
on their specific application suite which utilized Java based technologies.
Outcome : NewBold Technologies staff worked on multiple U.S. based customer projects
including customizations for: a worldwide copier company, a premier mapping
solutions company utilized in GPS systems, a large drinking water distribution
company and several internal projects for the original partner and German based
company.

.Net OEM Case Study: Ohio-Based Tech Firm Serving a HealthCare

Conglomerate
Need : The company needed to develop a product to replace an existing product purchased
through a corporate acquisition. The existing product was poorly designed, but was
used by a number of nursing homes and assisted living facilities for information
relevant to dispensing medications via medcarts. The firm needed to create a product
that worked better, and was more easily maintained. The firm also sought to diverge
from their existing outsourcing partner in India because of project management
challenges.
Solution: NewBold Technologies supplied a team of individuals that developed the product
using the Microsoft .Net platform and identified the best tools, standards, and options
for the product’s design in that environment. The team initially consisted of two
developers, one senior and one mid-level. As the contracting firm’s product
management team progressed with detailed requirements, the larger team was
phased in to include an additional mid-level developer and 5 juniors. This phased
approached not only reduced the contractors blended hourly rate throughout the
project, but also kept the development pace and appropriate skills aligned with the
project’s needs.
Outcome : NewBold Technologies will be working on subsequent product “re-platforming”
efforts for this company, and over time, the jobs that support 8 different products will
be moved from India to NewBold’s production center.
Technologies: .Net 4.0, SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, MSF, WCF Data Services, WPF

Full Cycle Application Development and Support Case Study: Customer –

Ohio based National Multi-Function Printer Dealer
Need : The organization is a reseller of large Sharp Multifunction Printers (MFP). They
recognized they could potentially capture a new market segment by creating a
product that worked in coordination with proprietary Sharp software to send e-mail
from the MFP while integrating with their clients corporate e-mail and file and print
system.
Solution: After reviewing all of the requirements, specifications and desired outcomes,
Newbold Technologies created a Microsoft .Net based product that allowed for
scanning directly to file shares, printing and e-mailing (both SMTP and Microsoft
Exchange), all directly from an MFP on a Microsoft authentication based network. In
addition, Newbold Technologies created a Microsoft based solution that provided the
customer with an e-Commerce website that allowed for user account creation,
product selection and purchasing. Additional tools were created for real-time license
validation directly from the MFP to a web service and payment processing through
credit card transactions. Finally, prior to entering into the production market, the
customer realized they were not equipped to handle and document helpdesk support
calls. Newbold Technologies established 5x10 monitored helpdesk solution. This
solution incorporated two levels of support. The first level being the triage and
resolution of simple issues upon first call and the second level support on a call back
basis coordinated by the level 1 representative for more difficult resolutions. All of
the information was documented and then reported on using a custom developed
Microsoft SharePoint trouble tracking system.
Outcome: The product is currently in production and being marketed and utilized
internationally, and is distributed both as a software product and a network
appliance.
Technologies: Microsoft .Net platform, Web Services, SQL Server database, XML LDAP, Microsoft
SharePoint, Microsoft Excel, Altigen Phone Switch, OSA (Sharp
