How to Install the Xerox Printer for Windows 

If your computer is in Active Directory: 
 

If you log onto your computer using First.Last@McGill.ca then follow these steps: 

1‐ From the Start Menu, choose Printers and Faxes. 
2‐ Right‐click in the Printers and Faxes window and choose Add Printer. 
3‐ Click Next on the Add Printer Wizard Welcome screen.

4‐ Select Add Network Printer and click Next. 
 

 
 
5‐ Select Find a printer in the Directory and click Next.

6‐ Walk to the printer that you want to connect to and note the printer name as shown on the printer 
label, eg; SHERB1317.  Enter this name into the Name field and click Find Now.  
 

 
 
7‐ Select the printer and click OK.

8‐  Do not set the printer as your default printer.

If your computer is not in Active Directory: 
 

Ifyou do not log onto your computer using First.Last@McGill.ca, then your computer is not in Active 
Directory so you will have to: A) make a connection to the printer’s IP address and B) manually install 
the Xerox printer driver software. Contact your local computer administrator (LAN Admin) or call 3398 
to obtain the IP address of the Xerox printer. You can obtain and copy the files from: 
\\Install.campus.mcgill.ca\Applications\StaffOnly\XeroxDrivers\.  
Choose from the 32bit directory or the 64bit directory, depending on your Operating System. Create a 
new directory on your computer and name it PS. Copy the files over into the new directory.  

A) Make an IP connection to the Xerox printer 
 
1‐ From the Start Menu, select Printers and Faxes. 
2‐ Right‐click in the Printers and Faxes window and select Add Printer. 
3‐ Click Next on the Add Printer Wizard Welcome screen.

4‐ Choose “Local printer attached to this Computer” and un‐select “Automatically Detect my Printer”. 
 

 
 
5‐ Choose Create a New Port and select Standard TCP/IP Port.

6‐ Choose Next on the TCP/IP Wizard. 
 

 
 
7‐ Enter the printer’s IP address. If you have not already, you must contact your local computer 
administrator or call 3398 to obtain the IP address. Leave the default Port Name and click Next.

8‐ Click Finish to complete the TCP/IP connection.

B) Install the printer Driver 
 
1‐ Choose Have Disk and browse to the location (new folder named PS) where you copied the Xerox 
driver files.  
 

 
 
2‐ Choose the X2UNIVP file and click Open.

3‐ Click OK 
 

 
 
4‐ Select Xerox Global Print Driver.

5‐ Enter a name for the printer and select No to default printer. 
 

 
 
6‐ Select Do not share this printer.

7‐ There is no need to print a test page at this time, select No. 
 

 
 
8‐ Click Finish to complete the installation.
