Internship Activity
I got the task to edit content of new title of  Other Books to publish, Malayalam
Translation of ‘Sexual Ethics In Islam’. The notable work of Kecia Ali, Associate
Professor of Religion at Boston University.

I read the entire book and compared it with the translated proof while checking whether
mismatch or missing of contents is there. Found errors and non-suitable words in the
translated proof and edited the proof with suitable words and order. Editor of Other
Books, Mr. Shameer K S guided me to edit the proof properly. His advice and guidelines
helped me to understand about editing process of a book.

Also, I utilized the chance to explore different interesting titles published by Other
Books. The participation of weekly editorial meetings with the editors was very useful for
me to study the working of a publishing house.

Managing editor Mr. Ausaf Ahsan shared his experiences of managing such an
institution. He explained about ISBN, ISSN, Copyright rules, Novelty and Marketing of
Books. All other staff of Other Books, like M Noushad, Sa’d Salmi, Nasfath Rahman,
Anshaj Rabin and Jalal Ahmed made me experience pleasant atmosphere and
comfortability in the office. My co-interns during that period was very intimate and
offered good company.
