Drinić: Klekovača Mountain and Old-Growth Forest Lom
Besides forestry, the officials of Drinić see a huge potential in tourism. In the territory of this municipality there is
Klekovača Mountain as well as the Old-Growth Forest Lom.
The old-growth forest covers 297.8 ha, and its vegetation consists of beech, fir and spruce (Piceo-Abieti-Fagetum
illyricum). There can be found a 500-year-old fir tree whose volume is 6.3 m, as well as the three tallest trees in the
Republic of Srpska whose height is 50, 51 and 52 m respectively. Also, there is an old-growth forest beech which is a
place that male grouses visit during the mating period and there they attract their mates by singing. Moreover, there
are a few caves in the territory of the old-growth forest Lom. Some of these caves have the eternal snow that used to
be delivered to the confectioners a few decades ago.
Runolist (edelweiss)
At the very peak of Klekovača, whose altitude is 1962 m, there is a rare
Alpine plant - runolist (edelweiss).
Štraparijada
The most famous culture-tourist event held every summer in Drinić is "Štraparijada" – a competition between horses
pulling the logs.
Drinić is for sure one of those places that you never forget and whose beauty and peace are the main reasons that you
keep coming back!
