1. Economic environment
Due to the covid pandemic and most imposed locked down, the south African
economy went into recession and a lot of people went jobless thus lowering
the disposal income of these consumers who then cut their expenditure by not
affording to buy Spur Group’s products .The government responded by
lowering interest rate which has become an opportunity for spur corporation to
borrow money and expand the business and also consumer demand is rising
due to this lower interest thus affording spur corporation products and
services.

Technology environment
Technology has changed everything about how Spur Corporation conducts its
business. Spur corporation can take advantage of this deployed of 5 g
network in south Africa by developing mobile Apps which enables customers
to book food online and conduct online payment thus facilitating dial delivery.
Natural environment
Global warming has now become a reality we have seen droughts, cyclone
idai .Spur corporation must be ethical in its dealing by avoiding using plastic
bags which are using non-recycleable.The group must make use all its
outlets implement and use paper bags in order to conserve the environment.
When spur is seen as caring for the environment it will attract more customers
thus increase in sales and profitability

International Environment
“When Europe sneezes the world catches the flue”. The world is now linked
operating as a single unit the corona virus which started in china has
negatively affected Spur Corporation due to the fact that during the 21 days
lockdown it closed some of it outlets leading to a loss of revenue.

2. Insurance companies for example ZImnat can make use of the sales orientation
by using aggressive selling techniques such as the hard sell. But However in order
for companies to grow ,survive they must meet the needs of the customers by
understanding what customers really want .In today era Companies such as Zimnat
must use Marketing Orientation approach since sales orientation cannot adequately
identify the need and wants of customers .

3. An intensive distribution is used for those product such as toilet papers .Which
customers don’t use too much time making a decision .Products distributed using
this strategy are usually lower priced such as bread as customers are price sensitive
to bread. Usually it is used together with an undifferentiated targeting strategy,
targeting the whole market this a single product bread

4. Retailers such as First pack in Zimbabwe make use of Omni channel they
integrate different methods of shopping such as online, brick and mortar and using a
phone. Its main advantage is that your cater for those customers who want to do
shopping in the comfort of their homes and its disadvantage is its complex and
complicated to manage and integrate online and offline payment systems.

5 Central commercial bank requires that all documentation is required before an


application can be submitted and also the operators who run proof machines re-run
each teller’s work to check accuracy and then route the work through clearing thus
doing pre control to anticipates and prevents errors . They proof machines in the

controlling processes not only minimises the bank’s risk and increases profits, but
also ensures high levels of customer satisfaction.

The nature of the modern business environment.

The modern business environment known as the Macro environment is now very
volatile than before .The subgroups of the environment which include political,
economic, social, natural and technological environment are changing faster than the
organisations. For Organisations in Zimbabwe such as Econet wireless to survive
they must quickly adapt those these changes and have flexible structures and
respond quickly to these changes .

The assumptions and description of the systems approach to management

Organisation are regarded as open systems example econet wireless .Econet


wireless takes inputs from the environment such as labour (graduates, raw materials
) and those these inputs using the management functions of planning, organising,
leading and control to give outputs of service like voice calls ,data bundles ,Eco cash
and Eco sure .

Covid 19 has negatively affected business operations .During the lock period other
organisation closed down for example the company I was working in was just a start-
up it closed down and stopped operation. Businesses incurred losses since sales
were very low and other were paying salaries to people who were not at work
.However technology companies such Econet saw an increase in their sales as most
people were encouraged to work from home. Econet took advantage of this by
providing 8 gig data for RTGS$600 which was affordable.

10 Toys for Africa is a profit making, private limited company ,medium sized
organization .

11. There are 3 level of management for Toys for Africa

Top management level

.Themba is at the top management level and is responsible for setting long term
goals ranging from 3 to 10 years for toys for Africa.Themba is responsible for the
overall direction of the organization.

Middle management

Consist of Busi for sales and marketing, Joe for production and operations and
suzie for finance.These middle managers are between top management and
operational managers. They develop tactical plans ranging from 1 to 3 years .

Operation level management

Consist of Mpho sales team leader ,and Paul and pumba .these guys implement the
strategies developed by Themba. Their plans range from 1 month to a maximum of 1
year .

12. Joe in the operations department, is responsible for implementing the Toys for
Africa strategy and operational planning

13. Themba must fulfil these following roles

 Entrepreneur Themba must be creative and think of other innovative ways


of developing dolls and toys
 Disturbance handler –Themba must try to manage conflict if it arise
between Busi and suzie regarding financial resources
 Resource allocator – themba must equally allocate resource to Busi
,Suzie, and Joe
 Leader –themba must motivate all employees in the organization to give
their best for toy for Africa to achieve its goals
14. Themba must develop conceptual skills in order to understand abstract
ideas

by creating channels of communication that govern the workflow of Sappi. It will

level down to operational level whereas power is different from authority .A person
may have power with authority. Authority is the legitimacy to govern. to make people
obey you. They are different types of power a person may have Coerce power by
using force or expert power due the fact that am an expert in my field .

22. Maslow hierarchy of needs

Physiological needs

To reduce labour turnover I will give the employees a salary which enables them for
afford rentals, food, and clothing .If the organisation has houses I will provide
employees with a two bed house with a toilet .By this I have satisfied his
physiological needs and new needs emerge

and helmet that will enable employees work to be easy in the factory .At the
company house the are staying I will put alarms and security cameras

Social needs

I will open a bar in which employees may drink beer after work and weekends . I will
great and allow informal groups which these employees we be part of

Ego needs

I will empower these workers to do their jobs with less supervision and being
independent. I will do competition for the employee of the month so as to motivate
them .I will also promote them if they excel in their present roles

Self-Actualisation

Difficult to reach but will make employees attend Motivational speeches for them to
achieve their full potential.
